article on women scared to "buff" up...

twinturbo

Hello-
I recently started going to the gym with with the new chick I'm with, but she keeps saying I never want to look like you, or be all buff, I try to explain I wouldnt do that to her, but she is hesitant on lifting weights....anyone have a good article describing benefits to a woman weight lifting??

Working out doesn't mean you will get buff, especially for women.
It has alot to do with diet.

Anyway twinturbo, what car you drive?

Wanna Race...lol

I don't think this is much different from guys who say, "I don't want to lift because I'm afraid of getting too big." It's nonsense. It's basically an excuse not to do it. It's like saying, "I'm afraid of making too much money."

If she want's to look better, she has to eat right and excercise, very simple. And, if by some miracle she gets to the point where she feels she's too muscular, that is not something I would consider to be a huge problem.

Point out to her that there's very little chance that she would get "all buff." She'll probably say something like "No, if I lift weights then I'll get all buff and gross blah, blah." Then, again, tell her that there's not a fucking chance. Then, when she still disagrees with you, challenge her to prove you wrong. Tell her that you'll make a bet with her. Give it a month of lifting and if she gets "all buff" then you give her whatever the bet is. If she doesn't, then she has to keep doing it or whatever you wish to bet her. It's pretty much a win win situation for you. She'll start working out and you'll win the bet because there's literally no fucking chance that she's going to get "all buff" in a month, if ever.

ae86- its a 93 Rx7 TT- mostly built for road tracks........ thanks everyone for the info on the "buff" thing....

she wont get as "buff as you" because girls dont produce testoserone, they produce estrogen instead so she doesnt need to worry.

Twinturbo, you might want to check out the women's board. There is a great sticky at the top "Reasons women need weight training."

I like Grizzly's bet idea! Personally, telling me I *can't* do something is a great way to motivate me to go do it!

The women who complain about the shape of their bodies and then won't lift iron beacuse they're afraid of bulking up and looking like a man are usually the same women who starve themselves and have gross, flat, bean pole bodies. Show her some pics of fitness competitors. Does she think that body type is "all buff". In my opinion, and many others on the board, I'd say, a healthy, hard bodied woman is sexier than hell. If she means "all buff" in the Vicky Gates sense, then she has nothing to worry about. That look takes years and a lot of juice!

theres a perfect article in the womens board for this..it also has a workout...

it is at the top i think it is called womens misconception of weight lifting or something simmilar

not sure though..
