Arginine

This stuff is FREAKY. I've been playing with a small amount of creatine(like how it makes me feel harder) that has arginine in it. The pump is SOOO incredible and DEEP I've never had this kind of soreness. It feels like when I'm working out the pump is so tight I can barely lift. IT HURTS SO GOOD. Anyone else have experience with this?:p

What gives you that great pump ?
Arginine or creatine ? (or the combination of the 2 ?

Arginine, if I recall may enhance nitric oxide release and act as a vasodilator. MS, what's your perspective? Can't remember.

Found in UC Berkeley Wellness Letter, February 2000

Arginine's greatest potential is to prevent or reduce cardiovascular disease. By boosting nitric oxide, a compound that relaxes blood vessels, it helps keep arteries flexible and boosts blood flow. Many studies, but not all, have found beneficial effects in people with heart and/or vascular disease who take arginine; a few studies actually used the HeartBar.

So why shouldn't everybody take arginine pills or snack on HeartBars to keep their heart and arteries healthy? No one really knows what this isolated amino acid does in the body or what its long-term side effects are. It is known that increased amounts of isolated amino acids can create imbalances with other amino acids and thus have adverse effects. Increased nitric oxide might be dangerous for people with certain medical conditions, such as kidney failure or cancer.

That's exactly what the sup says. THe soreness is sooo deep in the muscle, like I said it's FREAKY. I kind of chickened out and used lighter weights in the beginning cause it was painful, it was like I couldn't curl the bar because there was no room to move. Someone else has got to try it to believe me!

how and when are u taking it Debu,,,,,,,,are u taking it along with creatine??? or alone,,,,or together.

Have u ever taken creatine before with out the Arginine? if so did u ever feel pumps like u do now ?

Debu,

List what is on the label, per serving size.

Ingredients and amount (i.e., mg or grams per serving) and how much you took and how long before the workout, and was it on an empty stomach?

Here is a pretty cool review study dealing with "the clinical pharmacology of L-Arginine":

ummm, too many big words for me:D

HBG - The arginine is already in ther creatine premixed together. I have taken straight creatine before and do feel a good pump and fullness from it, but this feels way deeper in the muscle. Hurts from deep inside. Maybe it's an allergic reaction, lol.

W6 - I take it 30-45 min before I work out. Somedays I get to lift on an empty stomach (am), other times in the afternoon but I don't think it made a difference. It took abo.ut 3-4 days before I felt it. I think now I'm going to split the dose(2g creatine). Here is the info on the label:

TRAC(Time Released Arginine/Creatine) with NADH
Nitrogen-Loading Creatine Formula
1 Heaping Teaspoon
Calories 35
Carbs 4 (0 sugar)
Creatine Monohydrate 4g
L-Arginine 4g
L-Lysine 600mg
L-Phenylalaline 200mg
NADH(nicotinamide adenine dinucledtide) 2.5mg
Other: Maltodextrin, citric acid, natural and artifical lemon-lime flavor,, sucralose, acesulfame-k, vegetable oil, folic acid, yellow#5
