if one were to drink such as taking shots of hard liquor about once a week, would it affect one's goals to lose fat and maintain muscle if this one day was considered a cheat day for the week? or is alcohol worse than eating tons of junk food or about equivalent? also if a person were to drink and still stay under maintenance calories for the day would the alkie be more inclined to be stored as fat or would it be ok (calories in vs. calories out)? seems to be different views on this topic and just want to get some more opinions. thanks:)

One day in the "big picture" won't kill ya -- but I wouldn't make it a habit. Booze is just quick sugar and also dehydrates you and affects the quality of your next day. I would usually load some vitamins & anti-ox's after a night out drinking to help recover quicker.

One of the hardest parts about meeting your goals to lose weight, etc. is staying consistent w/ the diet & committing to yourself that you will follow it and not fall to those temptations. It can hose up your social life sometimes, but the alternative is to indulge, get frustrated about screwing up the diet & never achieving your goals.
