? about my strength.

My buddy had mono in Chicago... he got through it and kept his weight by forcing down protien drinks... what he did was, he heated the water so he could drink it down, as the cold fluids gave him problems. This gave him some protien so he wouldn't lose as much size.

He also drank pop, regular pop... which gave him some more calories... even though sugar... but he could get it down because of the "Fiz"... I don't know if your throat is swollen, his was, and it hurt for him to swallow shit too

well, not "shit", but foods. :)

I had mono for over 2 years STRAIGHT!!!! I know what she is going through. Take your time getting over this...

My advice is to drink as many fluid as you can and tons of vitamin C to boost your immune system. Training is out of the question, maybe a little stretching but nothing intense. Just try to get as many calories as you can to fight off infection and to keep your strength.

I didn't know I had mono, so I lightly trained through what I thought was normal sickness at the start of this year. I had mono for 2 1/2 months. I lost 28 pounds total. The worst illness I've ever had. My liver enzymes were through the roof, my spleen took a dump on me, and my average temp was 103.5.

louden swain is right, recover your health. Don't push yourself, otherwise you'll be down for a looooong time. I know you have a big heart like B-fold and you need to get out and crush things, but be smart. Mono is nothing to brush off, and you can't work through it.

Get your health back. Good luck.:)

If it were just anyone, I would say lay off. Since it's YOU, and you are a STRENGTH athlete, I want to ESPECIALLY remind you how taxing strength training is on the CNS. So while your immune system is already on strike, don't forget that mono ALSO taxes your CNS and can lead to complications like meningitis, encephalitis, hemiplegia, psychosis, cranial nerve palsies, Guillain-Barré syndrome, transverse myelitis, peripheral neuritis...the list goes on and on. Then top that off with training that SLAMS the CNS? No....not a good plan.

Who are these people that can THINK about training with mono, anyway? Must be superhuman. All I could do was SLEEP. For a month. Maybe that's why I got over it in a month. Hm....

I hope you have a slight case. I only had it for like 2 weeks a couple years ago, and I thought THAT was hell. B, how the hell did you put up with it for 2 years?!

Anyway, get better, get LOTS of rest, and just focus on training when you are all better. You don't want to make things worse.

IMO -

Mega Doses of C
Protein intake at 1.5grams per Kilo
Squeeze in 1 whole body workout per week will allow you to maintain your muscle mass and strength for awhile...

good luck :)

i had mono before....i wasn't training at the time though

you know what you could do

grind up your food reallllly well in a blender....and drink it

sure it will taste bad but at least you are getting it down

just a thought
