- The Chicago Cubs will be trying to extend a winning streak on Friday when they take on the Washington Nationals at Wrigley Field.

The Nationals will trot Jason Bergmann out to the mound in this one. Righthander Bergmann has a 0-2 record and a 2.79 ERA this season.

It'll be ace Carlos Zambrano toeing the rubber for the Cubs in this contest. Righthander Zambrano is 2-2 with a 5.77 ERA so far this season.

Oddsmakers currently have the Cubs listed as 235-moneyline favorites versus the Nationals, while the game's total has not yet been posted.

Washington were dumped 7-3 by San Diego as +160 underdogs in the rubber match of a three-game set Wednesday. The combined 10 runs were OVER the posted over/under (8.5).

Robert Fick was 1-for-4 with two RBI for Washington. Matt Chico allowed five runs off four hits over 3 2/3 innings of work to suffer the loss.

The Cubs carried their momentum into Wednesday, as they trounced the Pirates 7-1 to take the series 2-1. The Cubs won the game as +110 underdogs at PNC Park, while the final score was a PUSH against the posted over/under (8).

Ryan Theriot was 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored. Jason Marquis improved to (4-1) with the victory, allowing just one run off four hits.

Cubs 6, Nationals 4

Jason Bergmann couldn't silence the Cubs offense as the Nationals dropped the series opener. Washington got off to a fast start with four runs in the first behind an Austin Kearns homer, but couldn't hold on.
