just for something different I am working the high rep deads for the next few months, I just need a change of pace. First goal is 405 for 20 and then see what happens. My best to date is 365 for 20 but I think i can do better. Grip starts to go towards the end there..haha. anyone else ever work these into the mix? Might do the same with squats someday...did 225 for 36 nonstop once, quite the lung workout and sore ass legs for days

Did 500x11 on Sunday raw...hate high rep deads. I think that they are an injury waiting to happen...

watch for overtraining and keep your form! i fucked up my back doing this...not because of the deads but because i was a dumbass and wasnt paying attention to what i was doing. i learned the hard way.

About 6 years ago I work up to 3 sets of 20 reps with 365 in the squat. Never, ever again. It must have taken me 6 months to hit this. I started out with 275 for 10's and added 1 rep every workout, not matter what. I was dead for about 1 hr after that.

yes, they are..i'll never do them again...thats some scary strength by the way

I think the old 20 rep squat or dead routines are definately growth producers, but I stay away for the simple fact , even if your the greatest form technician, your form starts to suffer towards the end so you open yourself up for injury, especially when your on the 18 or 19 or last rep, your dying to get it and ready to drop dead but you muster out probably some ugly last 2 or 3 reps. I'm not saying you personally (heavywear) just generalizing here.

I tried a 20 rep heavy squat set and my form really died at the end, my 19th and 20th rep looked like I was doing the MACARENA !!!

Later tater,
Mike
