Who still does a lot of olympic bar curls?

These have always been one of my favorites. Good old Arnold said they were the shit in his books and he seemed to know what he was talking about. I've gone through periods where they hurt my wrists a little, but I haven't had that problem in awhile.

So who here still does them and what kind of poundage do you use and how many sets do you do?

Lately, I've been doing about three good work sets with the heaviest one being 185 x 5 after I've got some blood in the biceps and stretched them pretty well.

Anyway, I was just curious. Seems like I don't see a lot of people doing these anymore.

i have to. i cant afford an EZ curl bar. i do super slow eccentric, so the weight isnt too high. as long as it increases every week

the mainstay of my routine.

ive been going around 95-115 for 6-8 lately, supersetting with overhead tricep ext. 45 plate for 20reps for giggles CAT style.

Theya re the corner stone of my bi routine, but 185 for reps...ouch, I've never gone above 135

Have any of you guys ever done the 5x5 or your main biceps excersise on preacher curls. I have been doing these as a change of pace and because I felt like I was cheating to much on standing curls. Do you guys think preachers can work as a main excersise or should or back to standing curls(I plan to do this in a few weeks anyways)?

i only like standing curls because it forces me to use other muscles to stabilize my arm in position. thats the main benefit. preachers are excellent alternatives and can really put a hurtin on your bi's in place of standing curls. as with anything, go with it for a while, and then change it up as you get used to it.

I used to love them a lot but they seem to hurt my elbows badly now. I stick with dbells (don't tell anyone...lol) when I do biceps.
