Who needs motivation?

Feeling a little unmotivated. Too much going on.. etc, etc.
Here is where I am at:

*I have a bulding disk that put me in the ER less than two weeks ago. It is impacting the nerves.
*Keep in mind I also have two herniated disks and four degenerative disks.
*Found out I have a hernia that needs to be opporated on. I am meeting with a specialist on Thursday.

Well, I still go to the gym and just do what my body lets me. That is machines at this point. Can't touch legs at all though. I look like a cripple when I walk in there but I still do it.
If I can get in there with pain that makes me want to blow my brains out anyone else can do it too.
The cool thing is I can still get a bit of a pump. It has been challenging by I am finding new ways to hit body parts. So in a good way the injuries are forcing me to try new movements etc.
I had to stop feeling sorry for myself and decided to make it happen. Its working for me and it can work for you too!!!

Hey Slat...I've been following your posts long before I really started posting here. Much respect to you! You have been through a lot and I really admire your dedication and determination. I will think of you the next time I'm tired and don't want to work out because aside from a few aches and pains, I don't have to deal with the major physical pain you are facing..so no excuses for me. Thanks for your post!! and hang in there! I really hope you'll find some relief! :)

Its funny. I get more motivated when I am sick or injured than I do when everything is good. As they say you don't know what you got til its gone!
Thanks for the kind words.

That's so true...I used to play competitive basketball (way back in the day) and I always seemed to have my best games when I was sick or under the weather. You try that much harder and increase your intensity and focus. Funny how that works!

Found out I also have a partially torn bicep tendon. Oh well. Surgery this Friday for the hernia. Just been doing light machine work. I will keep going until Thursday then no working out for a while.
Took this today in case I balloon up to 270 again:

I turn 38 next week. 223.5 in the picture. Its the lightest I have been since the 90's!

Well today is surgery. I am getting ready right now. I hope everything goes well.
Typical me. Something had to go wrong. I had food poisoning two days ago and dropped 10lbs.
Oh well. I will keep everyone posted on how it goes. I am going to be laid up during my birthday and Christmas. Kind of sad. My ex, who is one of my best friends, is moving too. Sigh. Life goes on.
Here is to hoping I can make 2011 a new beginning. 2010 was not easy!

Good luck with your surgery! I'll be thinking of you. :)

2011 has to be a better year. and...Happy Birthday a few days early. You and I are about the same age....just got ya beat by a few months. ;)
