Slavery was many years ago, this is true....but those pics are not. Also, Lynchings and tying certain ethnic groups to cars and dragging down the street is still being done today.

On June 7, 1998, three white racists abducted and dragged James Byrd, a black man of Jasper, Texas. This killing properly provoked international outrage. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, NAACP President Kweisi Mfume, Houston Mayor Lee Brown and Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) came to Jasper to condemn the killing and express condolences to the Byrd family.

Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) said that Byrd's death and his family's way of coping served as an example to others. "We are diminished by this act," said Hutchison, "but from the depths of our pain, the fog of all our disbelief, we are going to emerge stronger. ... We have seen a family tested. We are better today because we have seen a family tested like no other family has been tested." President Bill Clinton, in a letter to the Byrd family, said, "People across our nation have been shocked and saddened by this tragedy. Violence and hatred in our society hurt us all, but few have had to endure its effects as personally as have you and your loved ones."

But how many presidential letters went out to the family of Ken Tillery? Who is Ken Tillery?

Tillery, approximately a month ago, walked down a Jasper, Texas, road. Three men offered him a ride. But the men kidnapped Tillery, driving him to a remote location. John Perazzo of FrontPageMagazine.com, describes what happened: "When the terrified Tillery jumped out of the vehicle and tried to flee, the kidnappers caught up with him, beat him, and finally ran over him -- (SET ITAL) dragging (END ITAL) (emphasis added) him to his death beneath their car's undercarriage." How much coverage did the case get? An online search of 557 newspapers found that 22 covered the story.



We can also discuss some of the injustices done to Asians as well if you like.


I love everyone and all women. My preference is for those with thicker ankles.......but will not discriminate against the petite. What does this have to do with racism.......absolutely nothing....hehehe

One instance does not constitute saying "still being done today" when comparing modern times to the 1950s. Besides, there are hundreds of instances where black groups specifically target whites when it comes to violence. Are they labeled as racists? Nah, racism only happens when a white person does it to a minority.

About the TV stations...who owns the station is irrelevant. The fact that the very name of the station is BET throws up a red flag, since the very existence of a WET would not stand at all. Theres a difference between a station that shows "european shows," or "indian shows," or "asian shows" and a station that is labeled Black Entertainment Television.

You and I should try to start a White Entertainment Television and see how we are treated.

I live in NY. a person of color better stay clear away of certain parts of Queens and Brooklyn. It is a normal occurrence out there.

But again...I love everyone. I am extremely handsome, so if you love your woman...keep her away from me....or else she will fall in love with my charisma.

That incident marked the end of the re-election bid of three-term Mayor Ed Koch, who had often been viewed as insensitive in racial matters. It also catapulted Manhattan Borough President David Dinkins into City Hall, the first African American to be mayor.

*On this date in 2000, Viacom Inc. announced that their company had agreed to acquire Black Entertainment Television (BET). The cost, $3 billion dollars, consisting of Viacom Class B Common Stock and the assumption of debt.

Robert L. Johnson, Chairman and majority owner of BET Holdings, and founder of Black Entertainment Television, the first and largest national cable network targeted to African Americans, would remain Chairman and CEO, reporting to Viacom President and Chief Operating Officer Mel Karmazin. Debra Lee, BET President and Chief Operating Officer, also would continue in that role following the completion of the transaction, which is expected to occur in early 2001.

BET Holdings II, Inc. was the first African-American owned and operated media and Entertainment Company to provide quality television programming, entertainment products, publishing and Internet services specifically designed to appeal to African-American interests. BET Holdings, which owns and operates four networks (Black Entertainment Television, BET on Jazz: The Jazz Channel, BET Action Pay Per View, and BET International); is an investor in four magazines with Vanguard Media (Heart & Soul, IMPACT, Honey and Savoy); and owns Arabesque Books, the leading African-American line of romance novels.

The company has also established a new film division, BET Pictures II, to develop African-American made-for-television movies and theatrical releases. Read your reply bro. You said Slavery was 200yrs ago (it was not that long ago) and i said issues still exist today. Have we progressed over the last 55yrs.....this I can not tell you. The world as a whole is a different place....so IMO we are comparing apples to oranges. I can only speak for my time in the flesh on this earth.

The women are thinner today than say back in the 50's and 60's. Marilyn Monroe was a full figured woman and many thought she was the most beautiful. So you see times have changed. Boy do i wish i were alive back then. As I have said b4...i prefer the thicker women. You see they are my destiny and reason for living..hehehe

When Nicholas “Fat Nick” Minucci, 19, a white man, fractured the skull of Glen Moore, 22, an African American, with a baseball bat while yelling racial epithets in Queens on June 29, it became an international news story and sparked scores of articles about how far we have or have not come in dealing with racism in our society. Anthony Ench, 21, has also been arrested in the attack.

The racial attack on Moore was only one of several bias crimes in New York over the past month, including an assault on an unidentified 22-year old Asian woman in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn on July 1 and an attack on Dwan Prince, a gay man in Brownsville, Brooklyn on June 8. But these other incidents did not occur in Howard Beach.

Howard Beach has been notorious since December, 1986, when a black man, Michael Griffith, whose car had broken down in the neighborhood, was set upon by a mob of white people from the neighborhood, and, fleeing, was hit and killed by a car on the highway. Howard Beach is a brand name when it comes to bias violence.

Three young white men were convicted of second degree manslaughter and first degree assault in the 1986 incident. But residents of the predominately white Howard Beach neighborhood were quick to say that racism had nothing to do with the attacks. Howard Beach residents said "they were unhappy with the convictions and many viewed the beatings as a simple scuffle--one in which race was not involved, and the severity of which did not warrant the punishment,” according to the Queens Tribune.

The 2005 Howard Beach incident has elicited a similar defensive tone among residents of the enclave. Since it was widely reported that Moore and the other black men he was with the night he was beaten were out to steal a car, according to police, white residents of the area do not want to see this crime attributed to their incurable hatred for black people.

Back on topic, you and I could post news article after news article of some random person killing/attacking some other random person because of race somewhere in the country. The difference between you and I is that you seem to think that the only racially motivated violence is white on black, which couldnt be further from the truth.
