Yeah my smile is fucked too. My surrounding eye nerves somehow got rerouted in the healing process as well. When I eat or do any physical exersion ie working out, my eye shuts involuntary and I can't see. People watching me workout are probably wondering WTF I am doing with my one eye shut lol..

No not really. For 6 months my left side of my face was completed paralyzed, including my tear ducts. In essence I was blind out of 1 eye during that time as I continually had to put ointment on the eye in order to prevent it from shrivelling up (due to no tears). Some people believe early administratin of steroid treatment (non-AAS of course) can help. In my case it did not. I even went to a pain clinic a few times to have multiple accupunture needles hooked up to electricity in the affected area. Hurt like a bitch but didn't help much. At the end of the day time is the main healer. The 7th cranial nerve located behind your ear pretty much has to re-grow. I would say I have 70% functionaly of my left side of my face and to this day cannot completely blink.

I had a close call and almost went through something similar. I got Ramsey Hunt Syndrome when I was 21, which is essentially shingles that effects your inner ear. The infection spreads through the same facial nerve affected by bells palsy and if not caught within three days of the onset, will frequently lead to paralysis of that nerve. I started antivirals right on the cusp of that cut off and was lucky to only be stuck with a few weeks of some of the worst pain I've ever felt in my life.

Lucky girl you are. I would to say Bells Palsy was the worst thing I have ever had to deal with. You know until you mentioned the ear pain, I almost forgot about that. My one ear was so sensitive I couldn't even use it to listen while on the phone.

Same thing with me. I was hunting out in the bush when I woke up the next morning, tried to drink a coffee and spilled all over my chest. I figured I was still drunk from the night before so didn't think much of it. An hour later my eye was burning so bad I looked in the mirror only to find half my face like you said, dead. Taped up the eye and kept hunting till the next day, then figured I should go to the hospital.

I had a little bit of warning. I showered one morning and my ear felt full of water that I couldn't get out. I immediately went to the doctor, thinking it would be a routine flush. She said I ahd an ear infection, and gave me antibiotics. Two days later, things were worse and I was in pain, so she referred me to an ENT who diagnosed me correctly, and barely in time to avoid the worst of the symptoms. The pain was really bad, but nothing compared to what Mr. Black had to deal with because I was able to treat it.
