what do you guys think of nuts as protein source

Nuts suck as a protein source by themselves. They have a low Protien Efficiency Ratio. When consuming protein you need to keep in mind that your body doesn't necessarily assimilate 100% of it. Sources like milk and egg protein have the highest PER, followed by poultry beef, fish, and soy/nuts are lowest. However, if the majority of your diet is from higher PER proteins eating nuts should offer some nutritional value. Basically what I'm saying is that nuts would be a poor choice for use as your primary source of protein.

interesting never heard of that--how does greens which are not a protein source complete the protein of a nut

Most protien sources " do not " contain the complete chain of 22 amino acids for muscle building so your body ( in a nut shell ) has to go rob your muscles of the missing aminos inorder to finish the process ( it's a bigger process then that but i think you get the point )

So like arnold said back in 1979 .. protien combining is the way to go .. eat two different protien sources at each sitting to ensure all 22 aminos are present ... throw in some deicated liver and or brewers yeast and you'll be assured to have a complete chain and retain a positive nitrogen balance ..

A poor mans amino acid supplement has always been desicated liver and brewers yeast ... i've used it for 20 years ... throw in some digestive enzymes every three days or so and your good to go ... friendly flora a few times a week will take the horsepower out of your farts as well ...

Damn bodybuilders can peel fricken paint with there nasty wind but most don't realize the cause is rotting undigested protien causing this issue due to a lack of complete amino chain to get things into the blood stream ..

I don't think you eat nuts primarily for the protein, but instead for the calories and healthy fats. Nuts are the perfect food for bulking as they are great to snack on in order to meet caloric needs.

Perfect thing to munch on " between " your regular meals ... even better is washing them down with a meal replacement drink as well ...
