Are you exaggerating? How can they hire you and give you nothing to do?
That would drive me insane.
yes, its driving me insane too.
apparently, my boss wouldn't take on any more responsibility because she said she was too busy (not at all true), so they asked if she needed help and she said yes. aka, an assistant manager (me)
meanwhile, i think i probably take care of an hour or two of work a week- the stuff that she forgets or doesn't feel like doing. checking something, getting a signature, filling out a form, being the manager of the department when she disappears.
after they hired me, i stayed home for the first week. there was nobody around to show me anything, so i didn't even go in.
the next week, my boss was there and still didn't show me anything, so i had no idea where anything was, what to do, no computer, no phone. just a desk and 3 pens.
now i have a phone and a computer. i never get a phone call. i didn't even know how to make a call from work until last week.
i get around 2-5 emails a week.
i'd LOVE to actually work in the department. i grabbed some work yesterday and started to help, but it was something little and didn't take very long. it felt GOOD, to actually get my hands into something, even as minor as what I did.
