no, i mean, i'm really asking the question, not being like "oh, what do THEY know".

i have.. well i have almost nothing to do in work. to the point where i'm frustrated.
today i asked for something to do, and was told to keep on doing what i've been doing (nothing) and thanks for offering and that i'm doing a great job.

?

i don't want to get fired, but i'd like to look here once in a while.
if i logged into expertpcsupport, would the IT people know the pages I was on after that? I mean, what do logs show them?

they could go into the firewall ( hardware firewall not the firewall on your computer )and view every page thats been visited. Whether anyone is looking thats another story.

its a company of nerds x infinity.
they are looking.
so, if i logged in and looked even at my pm's, would they be able to see them?

I've worked at a couple engineering companies, one of them was maybe only 60 peeps or so, and i would just straight up log into EF, among other things, and nobody ever said shit. I mean IT guys can see the url of every page you've visited - oftentimes they can see everything that gets passed across the network including emails. sometimes they can even view your screen and record your keystrokes, depending on what software is installed. but the bottom line is most of them don't give a shit. they have better things to do than monitor everyone's traffic. I bet they didn't check up on my internet activity even once.

i don't know how expertpcsupport is set up. but yes they could theoretically log and look at every word of text or picture that's sent to your pc. Or they could go to expertpcsupport themselves.
On the bright side, they're usually too understaffed to check up on people unless they're specifically asked to. It's not a profit center, it's a cost center and their hands are full with spam and viruses. The most they'd probably do is set up a filter for sex, porn, resume and company keywords, which would send them an email to look into it.. if they got enough emails.

but, if you've consistently got nothing to do, no responsibilities.... get some or expect to be let go, that's the first sign of ready-to-be-downsized... they don't pay a salary for nothing...

They would be able to see everything, if they so wished.

Just because they are nerds doesn't mean they are that motivated though.

I'd have your login ID, Password, every site you visited... I'd pwn you. My computer, My network, My Firewall, My Internet Connection, etc.

Most of them are prolly to lazy to care.

I seriously doubt they are scanning through the millions of bits of data traveling through the firewall.

constant posting on a discussion board may raise some red flags

i've been turned off by the powers that be myself. never caught any shit for it. was eventually laid off though.
