What countries will allow you to become a citizen, but you don't have to live there?

Then don't pay the taxes. Simple.

THey are going to come get you for the tax, just don't step foot in the US.

I have no interest in actually living in Canada.

In the end I think you basically don't want to pay taxes but probably want some sort of diplomatic protection for the rare case where you might be accused of smuggling crack in your ass - right?

If you basically want to dissolve as a tax payer look closer at news groups with ghost.

That is why I want a citizenship of "somewhere" - so that if I need to travel for a job, I can and won't have to say "oh sorry, can't go into the U.S. on this trip because of this whole 'wanted' thing they have going on".

Manny is on to something with the canada stuff.

I would think your best bet would be some of the Caribbean Islands. I am looking into this myself .

What I was told by someone today: the 3 year rule is a general rule BUT there're exceptions. For example, if a couple has been married for a decade, one of them is canadian and they both move to Canada, he will be granted canadian citizenship.

The 3 year rule was set back in the early 90's to prevent fraud from foreign students (getting married in order to get a scholarship...). I can check this for you tonight to get more details.

Manny, moer info would be great.

ireland has a lot of programs for artists and the like - I think - someone jump in if I am wrong, and all kinds of otherincentives, but since the programs was geared toward bringing talent to the country, you probably have to live there.

In Ireland, you can buy your citizenship.

At least the current owner of Campbell's soup did that, so thats how I know about Ireland.
