Any one own this package of 3 video tapes. It is priced at llike $154. I was thinking about ordering it. For those who own it or have seen it, does it explain the West Side methods on how to increase strength? It's not a lot opf BS is it? Thanks.

I have seen the seminar tapes afew times. It is excellent. Worth the ca$h! This is how it is

Tapes 1,2

Dave Tate in a seminar room talking to attendees about his career in powerlifting and he introduces the methods, sample workouts. These show the method and the rational of westside plus some of Dave's humorous ancedotes. You will also get a book full of info that Dave is presenting in the seminar and on the slide show.

Tape 3

Training tape. Dave and another big powerlifter, Matt from westside start with the box squat. Seminar attendees all perform them and Dave points out mistakes and how t correct them. This box squat segment will explain everyting about it.

Matt demonstrates different exercises for the lower body and abs. Form and technique are shown.

Tate shows the right way to bench and attendees bench and they get pointers on correct form. Supplemental upper body work is shown.

Then sled dragging is shown. Bands and chain setup is discussed. Louie Simmons makes a good point. To paraphrase Simmons,

Simmons:
Do football players train thee times a day?
Seminar attendee
"Yes"

Simmons:
Then why do people think that you can only train three times a week? Someone explain that to me want to hear it!

Tape 4 is an interview with the pioneer of modern powerlfting, Louie Simmons. Very interesting and insightful.

The bottom line is get those tapes and train hard!

Does he tell you what to do exactly?

As with anything to do with Westside Barbell...there is NO BS in these tapes. He explains all the methodology. And also gives you the basics for setting up your program.

However if your question is "Does he tell you EXACTLY what to do?" then the answer is no. There is no way to factor in all the individual needs of everyone that watches the tape. That is one of the reasons that the training works so well. It tailors itself to your needs as long as you follow the basic rules.

ONE DAY FOR SPEED....ONE DAY FOR STRENGTH...WORK YOUR WEAKPOINTS.

Actually my favorite line in the video was during the Simmons interview where he point blank stated that all the US Olympic Weightlifting coaches should be fired.

If you are having trouble figuring out what to do...read ALL the articles at www.elitefitnesssystems.com However there is no substitute for seeing it first hand. And if you cant do that...then the videos are the next best thing.

Speaking of seeing things first hand....I used to think I was somewhat fast on Speed Bench days...until I witnessed one of Dave Tate's Sunday workouts when he put on the seminar in West Palm. Kinda scarey to think of the bar speed that someone like George H. generates.

Don't have the seminar tapes...but may get them someday. I have the others though. Have a buddy go in with you and split the cost...makes it a lot cheaper.
