Two Injury Questions - Sore Clavicle & Inner Elbow

If I sink my shoulder into itself (like it does when you do a most muscular pose) the area around or under my clavicle (maybe the clavicle itself?) hurts bad. It doesn't hurt unless this happens.

I don't feel this pain when I life only later on and mostly after chest days. My form for chest movements is sound but I find if I do less reps it doesn't hurt as much. And it really doesn't flare up after my shoulder days.

I don't know what it is - possibly a rotator cuff waiting to pop?

Also my right inner elbow hurts when I do hammer curls/open doors/side laterals/bent barbell rows/putting db up for inclines or shoulder press.

I'm pretty sure I hurt it doing a stoooooopid max curl a few weeks ago :nopity: - but didn't notice it until my next back workout.

Wondering what I did...

Help?

What do you do for upper back, rear delts and lats?

Do your fingers ever tingle?

Is it above the collar bone? Behind it? Under it?

Upper back (back in general except for deads that I currently do on a seperate day)
Barbell Rows 2-3 sets
Pull Downs 2-3 sets
Cable Rows OR DB Rows 1-2 sets
Upper Back Machine 1-2 Higher rep sets (it's a unilateral row machine where my elbows are about even with my shoulders)

Rear Delts on shoulder/dead day
...
Seated Bent Laterals 2-3 sets - recently began doing these with effort to keeping elbows below shoulders (recommended by fellow lifters at gym)
Bent Cable Lats 1-2 sets

My fingers don't tingle, BUT when I do DB Rows my arms do on occasion - why?

The pain is under the bump (I thought was the clavicle) if by the collar bone you meant closer to the neck - it isn't there. The pain is probably under that bump - when I press on it hard it hurts (not my other shoulder)

Any ideas? Or about my arm?

Thank you for your time.

Have you ever injured your shoulder?

The elbow sounds like a tendon problem, if you feel the elbow on the inside, you have a knobby part, then kind of a grove and then then the point of the elbow, does it kind of hurt in this channel? If so you likely aggrivated the tendon, basically put, tennis elbow. I had it real bad in one elbow last year and tried all the common treatements such as ice and anti-inflamatories, these in turn made things much worse over time and it never healed but simply got worse over about 4 month period of time. It finally got so bad I had prolotherapy (find more info at prolonews.com) done which worked wonders. If it just started bothering chances are it will heal on its own if you allow it to. What I mean by allow it to is that you will have to use heat instead of ice, lower weights when liften so what ever lift you do it does not cuase pain and lastly avoid any and all anti-inflamatory use (ibuprofin, aleeve etc). What those products do is reduce inflamation which is essential part of healing and can turn a simple injury into a chronic one real fast.

I have had some shoulder injuries before - things that would stop me from pressing - esp heavy. But this one is new. It doesn't hurt when I use it and it doesn't take away any power.

The pain in my arm is where the forearm inserts to the biceps - Brachioradialis? I said it hurt during hammer curls, but it also hurts during regular curls. Heck, it hurts right now.

So far the only thing that I found that helps with the pain is large doses of alchol - but you can see how I might be skeptical to apply this therapy before a work out.

Insertion point (osseous fribrous junction(sp?)) is where tendons attach to bone and is the most common point of pain. I uncerstand it hurts but beleive me when I say that avoiding anti-inflamatories will be the key to fast healing.

The shoulder could be suffereing from trauma that is occuring due to a sloppy joint caused from old injuries that have not healed. If the tendons/ligaments become stretched due to a stress or injury the shoulder joint does not sit tight and flush and irritation begins to occure. Often times these injuries, especially if olfer will require some aid in healing. I found prolotherapy to be a great aid. It doesnt work overnight but it does work very well at promoting the body to heal itself.

for your shoulder- i'm 99 % positive you have an AC sprain. This is when the clavicle seperates slightly from the scapula. It doesn't really seperate, but the ligaments stretch or tear. go see a phyical therapist or MD very soon. It will heal on its own, but depending on the degree of seperation < there are 3 types> it may take up to 12 mos. This is a fairly common injury

Prolo can greatly reduce the healing time of sprains and strains and even heal injuries that have been unhealed for some time due to anti-inflamatory use.

Thanks everyone - I've got to wait until the Holiday season is over but it seems that seeing a doctor is the best thing.

I just hate the damn wait - in the boring waiting room. I'm gonna suggest that they put in a squat rack. Now that would be a cool waiting room.

Thanks again.
