Trying to press bar off shoulders while squatting

Does anybody here do this when squatting, pushing up with your arms trying to press the bar off the shoulders to lift more? I've never done it, but I read an article on squat form over on cyberpump.com that describes this technique. Anybody here ever do this?
 
I pull down when the weight gets really heavy. Pushing up seems extremely unnatural to me. Maybe I have terrible form though.
 
In my days of squatting which wasn't very long ago, I would drive my elbows forward and push up explosively when I'd come out of the hole on squat. I couldn't imagine pulling down.

Better add some more weight if it's coming off his shoulders. :lmao: I reread his original post and he was referring to "trying" to push the bar off. I always had a violent upward push, but I knew the bar wasn't leaving that little groove God gave me for a squat bar.

I think it's more of a mental game. I wanted everything moving up. The weight had to go up! It seems to me that pulling down could possibly give you a forward lean or a hunched back. I look forward to seeing more responses to your post.
 
No, the way I understand what the article said you should try to press the bar off, not actually press it off. It shouldn't be possible to actually press your squatting weight off unless you were doing high reps. Anyway I've never done this, it just seems like a way to lift more and sounds like it would take work off the legs
