Training Progress Log

Hey SG,

If you're really losing this kind of weight it's likely mostly diet. Not enough time has elapsed for you to have lost muscle gains solely from missing workouts. In addition, you're still lifting your legs. As long as you keep doing legs low volume high weight you can actually even continue to make upper body gains... Yes, gains. No, I'm not smoking crack.

When you lift legs heavy you pump out all the good hormones that help optimize your muscle gaining potential. That is, you make yourself anabolic. Keep doing your leg workouts. Do whatever little else you can (even if it's just training your grip strength). Even the most remote muscles send signals to your endocrine system to pump up the volume. Your blood in turn touches everything, so even if it's your legs causing the increased hormone secretion, your upper body will benefit.

Also, what are you doing for this pinched nerve? Are you sure it's a pinched nerve? If so, are you doing all the anti-inflammatory stuff? I've found even just arnica gel (you can get it at any health food store or CVS) works really well to keep local inflammation to a minimum.

Then, yes, optimize your nutrition. It sounds like you've been doing great on this but google "anti-inflammatory" foods and try to incorporate some of this. Fish, good vegetables etc can be good for all of this. Most importantly eating well will keep you from feeling like crap which will keep you from feeling sorry for yourself eating bonbons on the couch. This is a setback -- not the closing scene.

We are all here for you. Get creative. I'm sure there is a ton of stuff you can still do but it's gonna take some innovation (one thing you might consider doing is splitting your leg day into two days -- one with glute and ham focus and the other with quad focus... Also, if you havent already seen a physical therapist I highly recommend it -- those peops are the only reason I can still walk!)

Good luck, sista. Don't talk to loser punks at the gym. They're all jealous anyway.

xo, C

you are 100% right! it's just so discouraging when you start making progress than have a setback that seems like it will never end..

as far as the pinched nerve... i a pretty sure that's what it is. it has happened before, but always worked itself out in a couple days. the numbness has never been this bad, nor the loss of strength in the whole arm. I take advil, and sometimes ice it when the pain gets too bad to not do anything.

i kno the whole muscle loss in a week is all in my head, but i sure feel like it's real lol

i just switched to a better diet about three weeks ago (i was eating cupcakes by the dozen on a daily basis before) so thats why I'm losing so much weight. my whole intention with all of this was to get down to like 10% bf. i always thought i was lucky to be able to eat what i want and not gain weight... but that just gave me a reason not to stop... i still have a cheat day each week... but it is usually just a cheat meal.. I'm really trying to get strong and lean...

anyhow, i really appreciate your advice and positive thoughts, they really do help!!!

so now I'm just sad... i went to the gym tonight because i am feeling so behind... watching all of you progress while i sit around and do nothing... today was a free for all at work because it was our holiday party and i ate enough for all of us on here... so i went to the gym... i thought.. well i will just lift the bar and test my left side and see what happens... started with ohp... some guy comes up to me and says... man ur gettin small what are you doing???

i wanted to cry! I've lost about 9 lbs (after my binge today) and feel like i will never get all the way better to get back on schedule!

sorry just had to vent ;)

Sorry to hear that snipes but let me ask you. Are you using them scales lol they can't help you sorry chic , I used to forget all the time now I know the only way is calipers. Hope this makes you feel a lil better !
