To take or not to take: Zinc

do the ZMA....just before bed as it helps sleep quality AND its predosed and balanced

About the vinegar drop test.....its a weak acid....so if it will dissolve "x", then it will work in the gut.

If it dosent dissolve in Vinegar - its not a given that it WONT work in a more acidic environment

O.k. so ZMA now that I just looked at that seems like a better supplement like you suggest before bed time here is the three reference links I looked at:

http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/zma.html
http://www.immunesupport.com/zma.htm
http://www.musclephotos.com/zma.html

Hopefully it's a pill form because those Zinc lozenger tablets taste like @ss!

Thanks!
So I wonder what would happen if you took that with melatonin before bed?! Would you sleep like half a day :)

Here's some more info from my friend who is a doctor:

T13. ZINC RDA 15 mg

- Many enzymes (such as carbonic anhydrase and lactate dehydrogenase) that prevent the buildup of lactic acid in muscles (a major cause of sports fatigue) require zinc for their action. Because many fitness-conscious people have reduced their intake of animal products, they may not be getting enough zinc, (vegetables and plant foods are lesser sources of zinc than animal foods). Refining our foods lowers our zinc intake even more. Weider Research Group, 1992.

- Manganese, zinc and copper are critical to creating the collagen (protein) framework of bone. [Prevention; 11/91; p62]

- Zinc stimulates SOD, which is the main antioxidant enzyme manufactured by your body and is crucial to the life of your cells. Most of the clinical research on SOD has been centered on the inflammation resulting from from excess free radicals, as occurs in arthritis, bursitis and gout. SOD supplements do not work because they are often missing cofactors or are mostly destroyed in the digestive tract. Eating a balanced diet and taking zinc and other supplements will ensure SOD production.

- Research at the University of Texas determined that adding zinc to the diet of pateints improved scores on memory tests by as much as 17%. Published in Food, Your Miracle Medicine, by Jean Carpenter.

ZINC (as Picolinate) is a necessary for the manufacture of SUPEROXIDE DISMUTASE(SOD), an antioxidant compounds produced within the body.

I may just try it ... I seriously have to take 8 - 10 Melatonin to feel the slightest bit of anything ... so I guess it's a waste of $$ for me, but I have an issue with Rxs ... so :whatever:
