Oh my. Ive fallen in love, and she is a beauty! A firm, hard, thick rubber coated temtress. She pads my ego, soothes my woes, and pumps me like none other... pumps my muscles that is.
Im talking about OLYMPIC PLATES!
I was forced by fate to work legs in the powerlifting room at the gym. They have all those rubber covered plates that olypic lifters use.
So I did squats.
I wasnt even using as much weight as usual, but the way those plates looked on the bar gave me this psychological boost that was incredible!
4 red plates and 1 black on each side. It filled the bar right to the edge. When I took it out of the rack, it bowed on my shoulders, and I dont know if it was the blazing red plates, the way the bar was packed full or what, but I felt GREAT!
I dont even know how much weight it was, since I wasnt about to do any metric conversions, but it felt soooo good.
I dont know if everyone appreciates the psychological apects of the weight game, but it can make all the difference. I broke 500lbs on my squat using psychological tricks (weight standing and such), so I believe this is something that I will utilize for that same effect.
I encourage all of us to do so. The rush you get from an immpressive looking lift is fantastic. Do it, you wont regret it!
