Let's all tell about our own experience with Melatonin !
I have used melatonin for jet lag and it really helped
On the other hand, for insomnia, I have had mixed results
At more than 1 mg (from 1 to 6mg) it doesn't seem to help me fall to sleep and sleep well
At very low dosage (less than 0.5mg) it is quite effective: though it doesn't make fall asleep sooner I don't feel tired the next morning
