Tennis elbow

I seriously believe that I may have tennis elbow. Every time I do a bicep or back workout, no matter how light or heavy, I get major pain in my elbows and in my wrists (though I chiropractor once told me he thinks I may have carpal tunnel), and sometimes nowhere else. Today, 2 days after I bicep workout, I can barely reach over my desk to type, but my arms otherwise feel great. It comes on other times too, when I have just put too much stress on my arms in one way or another. When I was waitressing it hurt al the time, all the way down to my hands feeling swolen. I have heard that both carpal tunnel and tennis elbow can be a genetic predisposition, and my mom suffered from tennis elbow after years of seriously hard training. She now uses straps and takes anti inflammatory drugs and it seems to be under control for the most part. I have yet to go to a doc for this because, well because I hate doctors and don't want to hear anything bad.
Anyone else have this problem? What do you do?
I'm thinking I may make an appt some time in the next couple weeks if this doesn't start to feel better.

I take antiinflamatories as well. The only thing is to cure is is rest.. and i don't think that means its gone for good.

Rest for me is not an option .. so anti - inflamatories it is...

Yeah, rest is not an option for me either. I have 600mg Naproxen at home, forgot it today though. I guess I'm grab some when I go home for lunch and try that for a while and see how it works. I was going to take today off the gym, but they are closed tomorrow, so I'm going to go get a leg workout in after work, then take tomorrow off of everything.

I have been dealing w/ tendonitis for years - I have what has been described as the opposite of tennis elbow. I'm pretty sure I know where it came from - about 15 yrs ago I was really starting to see results from weight training & I had hit a rut doing 25 lb cable pulls and was trying to get to 30 lbs. In the furor of it, I started jerking down & losing form just to get the rep done. Then one day I was doing military presses & my elbows just collapsed. So anyway, its tendonitis. I did physical therapy for a couple of weeks. At the time I was also doing a computer science degree & working full time as a programmer, so yea, probably aggravated it alot & carpel tunnel to boot.

To deal w/ it, I've had Active Release Technique (ART) done on it as well as massage & I'm pretty good about stretching. If it really aggravates, you can ice it after training.

Thanks for the info sassy. I am definetly good about stretching, and I do yoga almost every day. I'm going to try anti inflammatories and keep massaging it and see if that helps
