Sweet potato = young potato?

I plan to start a healthier diet, and I see thatsweet potato is very popular in healthy diets. But in my country Idon't know how you would call potato – I asked for sweet, butpeople don't know. Is it the so called young potato, that did not lieon one place for long?

No, that is a whole different vegetable. In somecountries they also call it Batat (from latin Ipomoea Batatas). It ismostly found in the southern hemisphere of Earth, and in somenorthern countries you will only find it imported.

In such case, do you think there will be a difference between young potato and the older one? I don't think that I can get the sweet potato, so I have to choose between what i have available.

I believe Yams are a suitable replacement for sweet potato, although sweet potatos are a little healthier I believe. Young potatos are not the best option I don't think, I'm not 100% sure on this though
