Should a man have a say in whether his wife or girlfriend has an abortion?

But if it's the other way around, she can kill said baby and tell the guy to go stick it?

Yeah, that's awesomely fair.

Ummm pretty much.

Women didn't make it that way, evolution did. Until men can come up with a way that they get to carry the child to term they have no choice BUT to live with it.

Double standard, I know. It sucks, but what can you do?

well fine dont buy into it ; that still does not change anything. I'm not saying that its fair or right or wrong. Does not change the fact and reality of the situation. There will never be a law for a man to have that kind of control over someone else's body. MAYBE one day a law that does not allow us to have an abortion AT ALL but never will there be a law that a single man can control a woman that way.

I understand and feel for the good men out there ; and understand WHY that behavior sickens you. You are a smart enough man I'm sure ; and not put yourself in that situation.

How would you enfoce such a law anyway?

How the hell are we inferior by design? I know many strong women in labor jobs who weigh more and have more muscle than some men I know. I'm not sure where you are going with that one! LOL

It's natural genetics. Obviously there are strong women out there. But men are genetically predisposed to be the stronger, more atheletically gifted of the two genders.

If we are going to start discriminating based on genetic potential thanks to natural selection, why half ass it? Why not go all the way? Obviously only dark-skinned people should be allowed to be at lower lattitudes, as they are genetically predisposed to have a greater protection from the increased exposure to sunlight. Mountain climbing should be completely off-limits, except for those people indiginious to those high altitude regions... The list could go on.

What I was saying is just going by the whole "it's my body, yadda yadda yadda" argument doesn't hold tons of water if you look at it from a mere biological perspective.

I'm not clamoring for some law that outlaws abortions; I don't know where you got that idea.

Exactly, it's their biological imperitive to carry babies to term. That being the case, it's not a reason to lord over our heads their biological makeup. Same as anyone else's predispositions for certain "abilities" based on genetic factors.

yes it does. I have a right to do what I will my my own body. You are comparing jobs and mountain climbing to my own body. Nice comparison.

I know you are not clamoring for an anti abortion law. I'm saying the only law that would be able to pass; either no abortions at all ; or the woman decides. Hopefully you are married to a woman who will have that discussion with you. :)

Of course I am, because it's essentially the same thing. Because a few genes in your genetic makeup went one way, you were given the ability to create life (provided you have the proper materials). Just as thanks to natural selection, some peoples genetic make up gives them larger lungs and a bigger heart to pump out the 33% extra red blood cells they have jaunting around their circulatory system.

It's all a matter of where the roulette wheel stops.

As for my wife, she's very pro life, moreso than I am. I have no problem with abortions per-se. I have issues with people using it as a quick fix for their own indiscretions (instread of facing what they have done and having a modicum of personal responsability), and I have a problem where it's become morally justified to shut a potential father out from what is a tantamount decision.

TRUST ME i dont disagree with your morals ; you are speaking as a father and a man. I dont work in a labor job ; but if I were born a woman ; able to work the field ; I would if I wanted but I dont. Just like I am born a woman ; and deserve the right to be in complete conrol over my body. You are not ; but if you were you would have that right too.

If morality is the issue then why not just be anti abortion? why allow abortions but go as far as to allow a man to also have a say in the decision? The idea sounds good but wont work. It just wont!

reguardless I'm out. I dont WANT to disagree with you so I'm going to stop. :)

I'd like to see where this thread goes by tomorrow. lol! My mother always told me if I wasn't willing to be a father, then don't have sex. Makes sense.

scary thing to tell ur kid.

women don't understand the male sex drive and that sex is a necessity

What you are doing in wishing for such a law is turning women into people incapable of making their own decisions.

lol, it would be a decent reflection of reality. Women make emotional decisions and lack the foresight and judgment of men. This is well documented. Especially in an emotive issue such as this one.

that said, i wouldn't give the man the decision.

i think there should be extensive mandatory consultations and if one parent doesn't want the child then I don't see the point in bringing it into the world.

imho abortion should only be used in extreme cases..ie rape ...not as a form of birth control..i konw too many girls who have had 3-4 abortions...just dirty whores..
