Saw a woman in a full Burkha (sp) in Penn station

It's easy for woman to defend burkhas when they don't have to wear them. To not have the freedom to wear or not wear one is fucked up and it also causes a security risk. Unfortunately as the terrorists get more desperate they will be up to more tricks. Saying, "It hasn't happened in awhile" proves nothing and should be more of the reason to look into stopping it. Would have been pretty smart if the US were more prepared for 9/11, but they weren't. One day this thread will get bumped for a bad reason and peoples views will change. time will tell..

We went over this when you posted your thread about the woman who was fired from A&F. Women are not required by Islam to wear these. The laws that exist in other parts of the world requiring women to wear them are set by tyrannical, extremist politicians, not their religion. So American Islam women do have the freedom to choose whether they would or would not like to wear burkas and hijabs and whatnot.

I'm not telling you someone will never bomb a place while wearing a burka again. What I'm telling you is that it's insane to think they should be banned. Stevie Wonder could see that slippery slope a mile away in a blizzard. First you ban burkas. Then we're banning all baggy clothes. Then we're not allowed to carry purses or backpacks and the government has the right to search our being any place, anywhere, any time for no reason.

A burka is no more a security risk than a hoodie, or baggie pants or any type of bag, and saying any different is pure ignorance considering I'm positive more recent bombings have been done outside of burkas than in, so any comment to the contrary shows a distrust for an entire culture, not a clothing item.

Muslim is a race?

If you read what I wrote, I said that although that hatred is not being aimed at a certain race it is geared at Islam ( a religion). I never called Islam a race but let's get beyond that point and can you argue hat it isn't racist?

You just did.

Wtf. lol

You can say no to wearing a burka, it's not the religion that makes it mandatory. If you think otherwise, you've been misinformed by American anti-Muslim propaganda. Sorry for that.

Yes, they can easily just say no, lol. My crazy Mom flipped out on me for not going to church!!!! When a local priest got busted for touching someone she totally stopped and told me it was my choice what I wanted to do years back. The guys name was "Father Hands" on Long Island. No bullshit

I'm not arguing a side here, but while it may not be a requirement of the religion, it may be a requirement of a husband. If it is a requirement of a husband I wouldn't necessarily agree that the woman has a choice.

The only requirement on the husband is to encourage it's use. The Qur'an does not require Muslim husbands to force it upon their wives, the decision is left to the women.
