When on a cutting cycle, would it be a smarter idea to do lower weight with more reps, or should I still continue on doing sets of reps like 10,8,6,4,2.
I would say keep the weight high and the reps low to preserve muscle mass, and let the cardio, diet, and cutting drugs take care of the rest. (Max OT way).
It seems reasonable since muscle is muscle, and your only trying to cut down the bf%.

I have been doing the exact same thing as stated above. I have been dropping body fat with doing cardio 5-6 times per week at 30-40 minutes per session, and still lifting heavy weights. I have been doing sets of 4-8 reps. My bf is dropping but I am still keeping my strength.
I agree with nikolai on the low reps, I still wonder why so many people I talk to think high reps are good for cutting, high reps will train for endurance in which the muscles can train more of type I muscle fiber which is smaller than type II, so you can lose muscle mass. With low reps you will keep your strength and they also make your body produce more test (providing your body is making some ) than high reps to preserve muscle. I like to train at 6-10 (its usually more like 5 though).
