Hey girls....

I was wondering if I could have some of your input on carbs....

My friend and I are are a bit tired of sweet potatoes.....any other ideas that could be used besides oatmeal and wheat bread for good carbs??

Thanks for the help!

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer :)

There are are LOT of whole grains besides oats ... take a wander down any decent health food store's aisles, you'll find things like barley, millet, and buckwheat. All of these are edible cereal grains and in their unprocessed forms provide healthy carbs and a lot of other nutrition. As Jenscat suggested, don't forget brown rice, and there are numerous varieties of that, including wild and in the forms of rice blends, that can jazz up a meal. Invest in a cheap rice cooker and have some fun. My rice cooker cost $15 and I use it all the time, I frankly find slow cooking grains and rice for 45 minutes on the stove a major PITA that always results in burnt grain and a pot that has to sit in the sink overnight.

There are even specialty pastas made with quinoa, rice, corn, etc.

If you limit your shopping to "regular" supermarkets, you're going to run out of options quick, but there's a whole other world of food if you start venturing into "health food" grocery stores.

Good luck.

Ryvita high fiber crispbread, brown rice, kamut pasta, whole wheat pasta.

Two of my favorites are Barley and Kashi. The Kashi is a breakfast pilaf, but I use it in place of a carb for lunch or dinner. Definitely check out some health food stores or even GNC.

Re: Carb question
