Question about pasta....

Is the difference between "regular" pasta and "whole wheat" pasta as big as the difference between white bread and whole wheat bread?

The reason I ask is that I know there are big differences in the GI of white and whole wheat bread, but whenever I see pasta GI's it's always low, whether or not it says "whole wheat."

I'm in college, and it's hard to get good carb sources in the cafeteria, but one thing they always have is pasta. It's not "whole wheat" pasta, but is this still a decent carb source for bulking?

I too am in college and my cafeteria has a lot of pasta. Depending on the pasta it is most likely lower quality. Does your dining hall serve brown rice?

A whole meal with prot + fat + regular pasta will be moderate GI
Soyour pasta will be a decent source of carbs

That's the thing...they serve white rice like 99 out of 100 days, and then brown rice very occassionally. Not to be racist, but it's because all of the asians sort of demand that they have white rice all the time because it's like the primary source of their calories it seems.
