Quad Injection Gone Horribly Wrong - Need Advice

Hey guys, long-time lurker, first-time poster.

So today was my third time pinning my right quad. Test E, 1.25 mL, 300mg. I went in, and for whatever reason, my quad wasn't cooperating. It contracted, and HARD, to the point that I felt a lot of pain and had to withdraw the needle. I shook it off, went in again 1/2 cm away using the same needle, and the same thing happened. I had to withdraw a second time.

I looked at the needle and it wasn't blunted. So I picked a site 1/2 cm from the previous two, and for a third time, my quad wouldn't cooperate. It contracted a lot, caused a lot of pain, I had to pull out, and the needle was even a little bent from the force of contraction. So my stubborn ass decided "ok, one more time. if this doesn't work, I'm done." So I went in a 4th time. This time, I didn't make it very far before grazing a nerve and causing a smaller contraction, but enough to make me withdraw for fear of damaging the nerve.

Now I had pinned my left quad 4 days prior, same Test E dose. PIP is nearly gone from the site, so I finally grabbed a new needle (no T was missing from the syringe) and went right in to my left quad (same site as 4 days ago) and unloaded the syringe. Zero trouble there.

So my Qs are this:

1. How bad is the damage on my right quad? I imagine the needle cut through my muscle quite a bit (4 times) and I have this dull soreness in the region even though I didn't inject anything. I attached 2 pics of what the site looks like now. It doesn't seem bad, but there's no telling how my body will react in the coming days. All the damage was deep in the muscle. Also, how bad is it that I re-used the same needle in my right quad 4 times? I made sure to alcohol swab the full injection area, and I put a bandaid + alcohol on the site when I decided to call it quits, but I'm still worried.

2. Now to my left quad. Is it ok to have pinned 2.5 mL there in the past 4 days? I don't wanna waste any T..or cause any further issues.

Any general advice in dealing with this? My next injection is in 3 days, and I'd say both quads are probably out of bounds for a week a piece, so I guess I will do dorsolateral glute. I'm now worried about ever pinning my right quad again though. My left gives me no issues, so I have no clue what's going on with the right side. Any tips to stop it from contracting? All my injections were seated with my legs straight in front of me, toes in.

Thanks for reading guys, much appreciated!

I have had issues with muscle contractions/spasms when pinning quads before, albeit not as severe as your describing. I now almost exclusively stick to delt and glute injections. As long as I pin properly four sites is more than enough to rotate and avoid aggravating any PIP. One thing to consider though is that you didn't mention switching the needle out after drawing or between attempts at injecting. Using a fresh pin every time will help. A lot.

Thanks for the reply mate! Honestly, the needle didn't get blunted at all so I didn't put on a new one...I'm more worried about a possible infection from re-using the same needle. I didn't let it touch anything besides the injection site, but I did go in 4 times...

Fail, just putting it in the stopper on the vial blunts it. It may appear to be sharp, because it still is, but one insertion blunts a pin significantly.

Next time, just poke the needle in quickly and inject. If you go really slow, you'll psych yourself out if you get spasms etc and you'll keep pulling out. Just jab like a boss and be done with it.

You're right...I should have switched pins.

Weird thing is this was my 3rd right quad injection...previous two went fine. And I always use the same technique on my left side with no issues. For some reason, my right quad just wouldn't cooperate at all today.

Any input on my 2 Qs above? Thanks dude!

Exactly.
You can't see it with your eyes, but a microscope can. Fresh needle every time!

Thanks again guys. Gonna do right dorso glute for my pin in 2 days.

So my right quad is actually fairly pain free right now, but my left quad, where I injected twice in 4 days, is swollen a good bit (not red) and painful.

Is this normal? Did I waste any of the T? Am I good to lift legs tonight?

Thanks!
