Pre-Contest Dieting - I can't eat carbs, I have no control

Ok, here it is. I'm getting ready for a show, and I just started the final phase of my diet. Right now I'm dieting on a 2:1 ratio. 2 days no carbs low fat, 1 day low carbs low fat. Here's the problem, everytime I get to my carb day I start freaking out. I can't eat any kind of carbs without going insane. If your wondering what the carbs are on my carb day it's plain oatmeal and potatoes. Is there a diet that I can do and still get really hard which has no carbs in it? I really need your help guys. Thanks

Cseg

How far are you away from the contest 2 weeks 1week.Why are you depleteing your carbs like this? You need some type of carbs going in,iwould have potato iwould also keep the protein high i need to know more about you your bodyfat your diet,i cant advise on this info all i can say is i wouldnt start depleteing or zero carbing untill your last week.

Yes I would also like more details. How far out from your show, how much have you got to lose, how much fat is low fat, how much protein are you eating, are you having any high carb refeeds......? Is this your first show? Who designed your diet?

I'm with those guys, I need more info. to help you out. When you are talking about going insane do you mean your mood or temper? If so, it's because you are depleting your carbs, it always makes me grumpy as hell, and I can be a reall dick when I do that. If not, let me know and I'll try to help you out.

Ok, I'm 7 weeks away from my first fitness show. Found that I've been hitting plateaus lately, so that's why we decided on carb juggling. My mother is my trainer who is a bodybuilder, between her and some other help from competitors, I've gotten my diet.

Day 1 - 160 gr protien (only fat on that day is coming from 1 yolk and 4 oz extra lean ground beef)

Day 2 - 140 gr protien & 120 gr carbs (vitually no fat on that day)

I've still got to come down between 15-20 lbs, it's hard to tell. Haven't checked body fat in a while but will be doing a test soon.

What I mean when I say "freak out" is that my craving for carbs just become so intense that I can't function, and it always leads to me eating more carbs. I find that on my zero carb days that I feel fine. I just can't handle eating potato which I know is retarded. What can I do?

Hi bro,
I still dont know a great deal about how you look but i would go with something like this.
Low carb days 180 grams
medium carb days 260 grams
high carb day 360 grams

Carbs come from sweet potato and oats + 18 grams from my post workout drink.Increase cardio to 40 mins 6xs weekly i would do this to keep calories high.Always keep the protien high, adjust carbs to how you look at week 5 .I would drop the beef and substitute it for cod the last 3 weeks.
I hope this helps alittle its difficult to advise without actually seeing you but dont drop your carbs to zero because you will lose size trust me i have been down that road.

Are you saying that on one day you will only take in 160g protein plus a smidgen of fat??? That's less than 1000 cals! Unless you're, like, under 100lbs already that seems rediculously low IMHO. Also, what kind of carbs are you eating on your carb days? Just potato? Are you getting any veggies in there? Are you taking in any essential fatty acids??

I strongly think that you should consider giving yourself one day each week where you can eat all the carbs you want (just keep fat low). Your mom may be a bodybuilder, but has she kept up with the progress on leptin manipulation to prevent metabolic slowdown?? I also think you should read up on the benefits of flaxseed oil for fat loss. Ditch the egg yolk and beef for some EFAs.

CSEG, you are tearing away muscle tissue. Your no-fat diet is not beneficial. Like MS said, add some flax oil or fish oil to this, it will improve your fat loss and possibly prevent some muscle catabolism.

I'm definately with him....you need more fat in there....just be carefull of what kind of fat you eat.....like cockdezl says.......flax oil or fish oil is good. I personally like canole oil. Either way you have to get your fats or you'll be tearing down muscle like crazy man.
