Post workout shakes

cytogainer?

i know i shouldnt read and believe everything i hear especially with advertising. But i did think post work out shaes would consist of pure isolate like say VP2 for example.

isnt cytogainer a bit slower? if so doesntit defeat the purpose of a post workout shake?

if i am wrong , feel free to correct me and i will give it a go....im no expert thats for sure, thats y i come on here for ideas and help

150g?! Not to knock you, but that seems excessive. All we are looking for is the blood sugar spike to drive nutrients and protein into the muscles right? 150 in one sitting will spill over into fat storage. Plus after straight weight training, glycogen levels really aren't that depleted. 60-80g is plenty. But if it works for you, no need to change it I guess.

Yeah, I think 150g Dextrose is a bit much. This is another reason why I've always prefered Waxy Maize Starch for post workout carbs. It's more expensive than both Dextrose and Maltodextrin but has a much higher molecular weight than both, so it passes through the stomach much faster and more efficiently. It's absorbed about 70% faster than dextrose.

Trust me, it's sh*t. You don't get the sugar rush or stomach discomfort you can get with dextrose either.

I would agree, whey is probably a better choice for post workout. However, I don't think it matters that much, so long as you get some protein in you whether it be in the form of shakes or solid food.

That's got to be one big ass drink. A serving of BIG BLAST has 40 grams of protein( though the protein is far superior and "useable" than anything mentioned) and 22 total grams of carbs, 12 of which are natural sugars and 6 grams of that which is dextrose. And it's pretty sweet! 150 grams of dextrose? You might as well eat a carton of candy bars.

ok heres a recipe i tried for a while, & it helped tons! Its the old secret from the old time pros...

Whole Milk
Half & Half
Protien (I used banana or strawberry)
3 eggs
and a scoop of yogurt or ice cream

Im sure i will get blasted for the raw eggs, but i was fine, if u dont like that then i thin u can buy a bucket of "safe" egg whites and use them.

This shit was thick! And it actually really wasnt that bad (cant even taste the eggs), just hard to stay stocked on all those ingredients 24/7

Cytogainer is the best post workout. has fast acting carbs and protein and lots of cals, without lots of sugar. Take cytogainer than eat a dinner. your set for a few hours

bottle of isopure which is 40 grams of carbs and (bash away) a can of soda, or a big cup of kool aid... I will also eat a meal about an hour later of steak or chicken breast with some brown rice and veggies..

I've written about the use of half and half and raw eggs. It's great for bulking. I've used raw eggs in shakes and never had a problem but in case there is a problem, it's one you don;t want to have!

I've told a few guys to mix BIG BLAST with half and half and ice cream and they think it's crazy but if you're really underweight you'll fill out fast and it taste friggin amazing. Still, fats post WO are not optimal.

I also said the Isopure was good, but that's zero carbs. I mix the Alpine Punch with 1/4 cranberry juice and that's delicious. But once again, fruit juice doesn;t spike insulin which is what you want (maybe the only time you want it) post workout.

Incidentally, that's actually a good time to take vanadyl sulfate. A dated supplement but it will increase glucose deposit. Anyway, it's cheap as hell and a lot safer than using insulin!

Yeah, but you'll be full from the cytogainer, therefore you'll eat less food and that defeats the whole purpose. I'd rather have more meat than more sugar.

Cytogainer is whey protein and Muscle Milk uses the slower release casein protein.

I just use less water when I mix a shake before I eat, makes it a bit easier.

And Cytogainer has a very low sugar per carb 75 g / 6 g sugar, 54g protein.
Now the post workout creatine drinks are another story.
