Quick ?....I've been training lately around 6pm, so I'm curious on an issue.

If I hit a big whey, oats, creatine, gly., amino, etc. shake when I'm done (around 7:15), it usually prevents me from eating for at least an hour.......now, I've been crashing around 9pm lately, cause I'm in the office at the crack of dawn.....is it affordable to just have another shake, with maybe some nuts and casein protein before bed? Guess my ? is, do any of you guys have 2 shakes to top off the night, or do you insist on incorporating a full meal? I think my digestive system (which is taxed after training hard) will thank me for it............help?
 
this goes back to the whole thing about whether or not the real food is better.. if you are of the opinion that it is then you're going to have a whole bunch of people objecting to what you suggested.

Personally, I think you will be fine. As long as it's casein protein and you're adding some fats to it, I can't figure out why it would matter either way (except that you're missing out on the 'thermic effect' of food raising your metabolism, but if we're trying to gain weight, not that big of a deal is it?)

On another note, if it helps/allows you to get to sleep faster or have a better chance of sleeping through the night, that extra time sleeping, which is crucial the night you lift, could offset any negatives which only having a shake before bed could produce.
 
I've been doing exactly what you are saying with the shakes for about two weeks. I don't like eating a big meal before bed and it seems to be working well. I've dropped 1% BF in the two weeks, so far.
 
Well, my goals are not to shed bf right now..........but, I'm glad that it is working for you.....maybe I'll toss in some nuts or veggies........what do your 2 shakes consist of?
 
Post workout is whey with oats. I get that at about 8:30 pm. At 10 pm I do another shake with casein usually with some almonds. Thats my last meal before bed.
 
Damn bro...that sounds like exactly what I wanted to do.....how much oats? Almonds? Although my 2nd one may be a little bit more volume, as I have a feeling I'm gonna be hungry!!!!!!! Maybe the 2nd will be 2 scoops, some splenda and skim milk, some peanut butter and a side of J-E-L-L-O......LOL.........
 
I like to use the PB on the second one too. Fills me up a little right before bed. Sugar free jello is the best too!!
