partial pec tear

Hey guys,

I had a pec tear about 8 years ago, which I had gone to a orthopedic surgeon and a sports doctor for, and they said that there's nothing they could do. I tore the majority of the tendon and have been recovering ever since. Needless to say my left chest is alot stronger than my right. I stopped doing any barbell/dumbell movements, and have primarily been hitting machines where I can add more weight to left and less weight on the right. Well, I get alot of looks, like I forgot to add an extra plate and shit.. sucks, but is that the way to go. In a relaxed state my chest looks even, but when flexed my right side balls up pretty noticeably. I'm hoping to get some advice, as I would like help my chest catch up to the rest of my body. Thanks for the time!

I'm suffering a similar situation. I didn't injure my pec...it's my shoulder. Yet, the doctors have said there's really nothing they can do, short of surgery which they have strongly advised against. Therefore, I have been relegated to physical therapy and routine modifications, which (as you have described) really suck.

I just started a thread about A.R.T. You may want to do some research on it. I believe your type of injury is applicable. I've heard some great things about it. The guy I'm currently seeing has treated many Dallas-area athletes (Cowboys, Rangers, Stars, golf pros, etc.) and bodybuilders with a strong success rate (according to him). Here's the web site of the guy who created it: http://www.activerelease.com.

Anyway, I hope everything turns out well for you. Good luck.
