New Dead Lift PR!!!

Hey guys, I just want to thank you all because I've learned a lot from you all and today I set a new PR in the Dead Lift with 405lbs. I know that for a lot of you this isn't much, but to me it's a feat at 181lbs. Especially sine a month ago i barely got 365. Well, I do have a question though, my squat is significantly weaker than my Dead lift, about 70lbs weaker, is this normal? I'm following the Westside program.;)

THis is actually me, my girlfriend was logged on while I wrote this, sorry. Well

I don't know the percentages, but it is my experience that alot of guys will have a weaker squat when they start out. Alot also has to do with your body's proportions.

Personally I can pull about 5-7 more reps at a given weight than I can squat. However I love deadlifts, they are my favorite lift. SO I try harder.

Congratulations.

Also, don't think that the weight you are pulling is not impressive. You have to remember that there are a lot of bench pressers on here, myself included who are plenty impressed with that deadlift.

As for deadlifting more than your squat, I think that it has a lot to do with body structure. I can't deadlift crap, I mean like 150 or more less than my squat, but I have short arms and a big chest, and it is hard for me to get down to the bar. People with longer arms, and a shorter torso tend to do very well at deadlifting. Sounds like you are well on your way.

Congrats man!!! I just recently hit 4 plates myself and it felt awesome!!!

I'm the same way also. The dead is my best lift. My squat is close to 100 lbs less. Don't know wtf is wrong wit me.

I am the opposite i can squat more then 200lbs more then i can pull. Hell i can bench more then i can pull. And i truly dont even know what i can pull. its under 600 but more then 550. Just not sure exactly were. But it is something i am focusing on now. Didnt pull in over a year and decided i need to if i want a total. I wish they had squat and bench meet for totals!

Congrats man....

It is normal for a beginner to pull more than they can squat...as they become elite...it usually switches.
