My Weekend at Westside and Nazareth Barbell (VIDEOS ADDED)

My raw bench is up just over 200. It's gone up from 170, but not up to 330. lol If I can get 200 out of the shirt, I will.
 
So for you it added about 50% to your lift. Wow. As I remember you are taller than me which means you have longer arms; makes a 200lb bench all the more impressive.
 
My close grip bench stroke is like 14-15 inches, so anything I can do to shorten the stroke allows me to maximize my tricep strength. My high lockout is over 400 pounds, no shirt obviously. So the closer I can bring my sternum to that height, the more I can use that tricep strength I have.

It's acombination, form , technique, strength.. If you cannot work the shirt it will do nothing to assist you. The shirt gives you stability and the first 3 inches off your chest after that, it's the lifter, the shorter the persons range of motion the better result from the shirt. Spatts has long arms and is at a natural disatvantage, she has to arch hard, draw her shoulder blades in tight and brings the bar down low to her belly, she has great shoulder strehgth wich allows her to retrieve the bar from the low positon, alot of lifters fail here, once she go it moving it was all over, she crushed the weight.
dont think for a minute its all the shirt, you can get the strongest raw bencher ion the world put him in a shirt and he will fuck the dog..

I blew my eye out once. From a sneeze. :) Later that day, with my flaming red eye, we went to go see LoTR: The Two Towers. As we were waiting in line, to embarrass my boyfriend, I'd say VERY loud: "Are you looking at MY RED EYE?!" every so often.

Anywhoos, this is totally inspiring. I'm now preparing for a WABDL meet (late September) and I believe, a USAPL meet here in November. Can't wait. Just diggin' this thread, as it's VERY helpful!

Oh I definitely dont think its all the shirt. Like I mentioned in the earlier posts I was shocked the shirt added much at all. Be great to have someone analyze my form and give me the personalized pointers spatts has gotten. My arms are so tiny (12" flexed) I think my 135 bench has got to be more a product of fairly good form and a strong upper back and chest than triceps. If we ever get a video camera I plan to do some video of my lifts and upload them to be shredded by those more informed.

I have a question about PL bench form: I saw a girl, well, woman, benching about 200 in a comp, and her technique was odd, I thought, and a bit unfair. She arched her back so hard that she basically was raising her chest way higher than seemed right, then had this tiny little stroke as a result. Are there rules about high much you arch your chest up toward the bar, and how low on your torso you bring it to? I was just wondering , because everyone else was doing it the way you guys' vids are ...

That's so true. Ironlion benches over 500 pounds raw. He put on a shirt and couldn't move anything. Man, if he ever learns that shirt though....whew! I'm going to have to drag him to the next seminar with me. :D
 
drag me...please....I would have gone with in in a second if I hadn't signed already.

Seriously though, I will be making the same trip as soon as I am done w/ the season here spatts.....feel free to drag then...lol

Glad you had a good time. Hopefully, you will be able to make the September seminar. John Bott will be with me and he is a hell of a coach. I'm also hoping Mule can put 60 pounds on my bench in a weekend!
