no matter how much i exercise

no matter how clean i eat

no matter how i space and vary mealtimes

no matter WHAT

i have had thyroid checked and its fine, although i do absorb liquid iodine on skin within the 24hrs on that "alternative" test

what can i take to boost up this damn thing,...there is a history of heart issues so dont want to take any ephedra etc

or do i have to stick to 1000cals or somethign!!!

Unless you have some weird disease (sorry if you do.. :worried: ) you always have control over your metabolism. From your post the only thing I can gather is that you are frustrated. Need more info to even begin to offer a solution.

Can you check out the sticky at the top "Are you new to EF Women's Board - START HERE". LOTS of good info there. THen can you give us your stats - height, weight, bodyfat if you know it, age, any medical issues. Then also your current diet - very specifically -- e.g.

Meal 1: 8 am
1/2 c oatmeal
1 whole egg + 2 egg whites
coffee

Meal 2: 11 am
4 oz chicken
2 c spinach salad
2 tsp vinegar & oil dressing

And even better if you can put that meal plan into a food counts program like www.fitday.com - its free, online, very easy to use -- it will give you the total calories as well as the macronutrient breakdown of your day's diet- % and grams of protein, fat & carb. Just listing the total calories and "I eat good / clean" really doesn't tell me anything that is useful. The content of your day's meal plan is important -- I can cut to 7% bodyfat on 1700 calories or I can get fat on 1700 calories - depends on what the calories consist of and how I use them to manipulate my metabolism.

And finallly can you list how long you've been training and what is your current training & cardio program.

Welcome to EF! I'm sure we can get you on the right track very easily.

agree that evaluating the diet and training is the first step. Though if there are metabolic issues there are supps, like those mentioned above that can make a significant difference.

:p

agree. often people think they are eating and training right, when they are not. Eating clean does not necessarily mean that you are not eating over maintainance calories (have to watch out for those "hidden" calories and mismeasured portions).

not to discount the fact that you may indeed have very real metabolic issues (but having more information would make this easier to determine as well as to help plan a course of action).

btw- most women have at least some metabolic issues, the ability to store and retain fat is a genetic advantage (one that is no longer so advantageous)

I just want to chime in that it is possible to yank your metabolism back out of the wc.

I have (am) - it's a process and how long that would take is really dependant on your recent history, long term habits and any possible health issues.

Don't give up.

And write down everything even if it seem insignificant.
