low carb, high sodium to cut?

i want to start cutting soon. for my diet, i like to have a lot of soup and throw in some extra chicken breasts but the sodium is about 500mg per can. it can really start to add up. i know i will retain some water from the sodium but im wondering how easy it will be to get rid of the water without a diuretic, and how long it will take. thanks.

get rid of the canned soup
make your own
not hard
chop up a whole bird
cold water
chopped onions
chopped celery
bay leaves
thyme
garlic
tarragon
chili flakes
and alittle salt
bring to boil
simmer 30 minutes and there ya go
you can add beans if you wish
spinach is nice
can even crack a few eggs into it at the last minute of cooking for more protien

thanks. i thought about trying to make my own but i was kind of low on ideas of what to add in. i'll try your recipe, but im not too sure about chopping up a whole bird though. :p

have the butcher do it
tell him you want it in 8 pieces
or just used tits
i like thighs for flavour and fat content
but up to you
and if you want to put something else in go for it
you have to eat it so it needs to taste good to you

It's not too hard to get rid of water, but can take weeks natrually (2-3). I suggest using lower sodium foods so you can see your results dynamically instead of overloading on sodium.
