Liver test results: High Ferritin Levels? PLEASE HELP!

A friend just got his liver test results, but he's not really sure what they mean, and I don't know either. Any help would be great.

These results are 3 months after cycle ended.
Ferritin, serum 557 (before cycle: 127; normal range: 22 - 322)
AST 48 (before cycle: 43; normal: 0-40)
ALT 103 (before cycle: 54; normal: 0-40).
* All other results were within normal range.

I know that ferritin blood test measures the amount of iron in the blood, but I don't know whether he needs to see a doctor immediately about this, and/or whether it is safe for him to cycle again. He wants to do another cycle in a month, but I think that sounds like a bad idea. Anyone know who's right?

thanks, K for help.

First of all, no he should not cycle until all liver values return to normal. The AST and ALT will return to normal over time. THe raised ferritin levels are of concern and I would go for further testing. High serum ferritin levels may be associated with inflammation, liver disease, different types of anemia, thalassemia, malignant diseases including leukemia and malignant lymphoma. Very high levels indicate iron overload. Increased serum ferritin may be a risk factor in primary hepatocellular carcinoma. All that being said, I would tell your friend to relax and go get more tests done. By the way- you should not have to sit there and try to interpret your own blood results, a doctor should do it. Good luck.
