Let's talk Lentils

I'm still finding it very hard to believe that just 35g of cooked lentils pack 22g of (low GI) carbs and 11 g of fiber (at only 130 cals). Can some one else confirm this for me just to satisfy my curiosity/disbelief?

If this is true, this is a great carb source, especially when compared to the other "healthy" alternatives.

Lentils

Brown rice

blakc beans

right now I'm using them alsmot exclusively, over brown rice which is my usual carb of choice. It's just so much less food to consume, with the most benefits.

How do you guys prepare them?

simply: like a soup, with onion, garlic and all that is good stuff, then drain them...

When it comes to cooking, I am not really the gourmet... I

You can buy them pre cooked in a can. Just drain the excess liquid and add some chopped onions, olive oil, and vinegar. Fast, easy, and tasty.

If you're worried about high sodium content then just give them a quick rinse in cold water.

I bought a 2lb bag of raw lentils, I just boil and drain them. No salt added. I add flavor by pouring salsa over them and whatever meat source I'm eating.

D3fl4nc3, i do the exact some thing, occasionally i'll put them in a crockpot with my brown rice and a can or two of diced tomato. I usually add some garlic and maybe a little pepper. I usually add something spicy to them too. I eat that on the side of my protein source.
