jeez, i've got a ton of questions today. I dont know if anyone remembers, but about a month ago i posted a question about having shoulder pain during side lateral raises and pretty much any exercise involving shoulders. Well I just discovered today while I was practicing my form in the mirror that if I lean slightly forward, all the pain in my shoulders goes away and I dont feal any popping in my shoulder during the movements. Does anyone else do this, or know why this would help? This is really awesome if i've finally found a way to fix this problem!! :D :D :D

Well that's really the proper form for lateral raises. You keep your feet fairly close together put a slight bend in your knees, and lean forward at the waist. At least that's how I've always seen it done. My question would be does now that you've fixed that problem are your other shoulder exercises still causing you pain?

not sure yet, i just discovered this about an hour ago so i'll have to get in the gym to check. Today's shoulder day so I'll know within an hour or two :)

glad you found a workaround, but if you experience pain anytime from doing them this way, i'd look into getting it checked out..you dont wanna be sidelined because you didnt figure it out.

I got it checked out and the doc took a quick 30 second look at it and told me it was my biceps tendon and that it was from bad form or too wide a grip. I stopped doing shoulder exercises for about 2 weeks and it seemed like it went away so I started back up only this time i was really careful about my form. The pain came back anyway. :(

MOTHERFUCKER!!!! i went to the gym and could only do 3 sets of military press before my shoulder hurt too much and I had to fucking leave :bawling: :bawling: :bawling: What the fuck man, i just started lifting, how can i have a god damn injury already!!

does anyone know of any good sports injury clinics in the central texas area?? This is killing me. I feel like i'm gonna have to quit before i've even really started!!

the weight your using, cut it by 1/3 and start from there. Increase 5lbs per week or every two. Form is important...I agree with everything your doing except leaning forward on laterals, thats cool for rear delts , doesnt do jack for mids. Keep your chest up, eyes and head forward for military and lateral routines. The most important thing to remember is to keep your shoulders down and back. Shouldnt be hard if you concentrate on keeping your chest up, but not overarching your lower back. On laterals, turn your thumbs down as if pouring tea into a cup with a slight bend in your elbows. My shoulders use to snap, crackle, and pop also until I changed my form. Practice your form without weights to be sure, if your form is wrong, your shoulders will sound off without a weight in your hand.....my 2 cents

Lower the weight and keep working. I train through all injuries. I've got a left biceps that is screaming at me right now... and I'm taking it in the gym on Saturday to try to set a weighted pullup PR.

You will always have aches and pains, injuries and sprains - ignore them and keep working. Don't let them rule you.

Yeah but then what happens if i permanately mess something up? I'd like to fix the problem but it's so aggrivating. Seems like no matter what I try, i cant seem to pin point what i'm doing wrong. I'm taking a week off at the end of this week. hopefully that will help a bit.

Anyone ever been thru rehab?

If you notice, your doc will only let you take a short rest for a healing period and then you go thru some intense shit to work your muscles back into shape. Keeps them plyable and keeps the blood flowing thru them.

If it is a bone problem though, might be a tad different.
