Lat Pulldowns?

Legion Kreinak

New member
I was wondering if this is a good exercise to use to work my traps/lats. I don't like shrugs or deadlifts (leave me alone) and figure this is a good compoud movement. I'm buying a new bench for $107 that has a lat-pulldown bar with it and figure it may be a good idea to work my lats. Also, will having more developed lats be noticable? I figure it would support the chest/abs look because it's just to the side of them and... yeah.

Shrugs and deadlifts work the lats

Your lats pull your humerus towards your body - the opposite of the deltoids.

And yes, they make you look wider. Lat pulldowns seem to be a popular lift, though personally I prefer pullups.

You serious? Have you never seen a back pic..a lat spread... the 'wings'??? It makes a very noticable difference!

Pull down will definitely help your lats, wont do a whole lot for traps tho.

Depending on how deep your range of motion is, your lats definitely come into play doing dips.

I'm still lost on the deadlifts though. :)

Heheh.. I cant expalin it, all I know is I feel it!

deads do hit the lats bish. I know, its one of those things.

Legion, I know you asked to be left alone, but why the hell don't you want to do deads or shrugs. You're always asking everyone about good routines for fighting, yet you won't do one of best lifts, if not the best. Makes no sense.

Half the time I feel like I'm doing it wrong, even though I follow exactly what everyone says, so I just said forget it. Heh, I'm okay with myself the way I am, deads won't make me change all that much anyways.
