Last minute fat and water loss tricks needed please, I have 7 days!

Hey everyone. So it has been a tough summer, left my man and left the gym at the same time. I gained weight at first but have since dropped it, however do not feel that I am in nearly as good a shape as I was when I was 10 lbs heavier. I currently float between 141-144 lbs depending on the time of the month and I am about 5'6 1/2 tall. I have an event in 7 days time (An industry trade show, I am a rep for a sports nutrition company), and I need to maximize the next 7 days, to try to drop some water and a bit of fat. I am not too sure how to accomplish this.

Do any of you have any tricks that you use at the last hour?
My plan was to do an hour of cardio every day for the next 7 days, low intensity to be sure I don't tire out and can make it every day. I also planned to strength train every day as well for the next 7 days. My plan is to load up on lots of protein shakes blended with raspberries, 100% bran cereal and lots of veggies and salads with lean meats.

What foods should I avoid to get rid of water retention and bloating? Which foods will promote water loss? Any other supplements that you can recommend? My goal is to weight in at 135 in 7 days time, which I think is doable with some water loss.

Anyway any suggestions would be much appreciated I will keep you all updated.

Try to find a supplement that helps to shed water weight. Cut carbs drastically for the next week. If you only got 6 pounds to drop youll be fine.

research Swole Cat's 7 Days to leanness or something like that.

It's a 7 day diet manipulation for already in shape people (which you are it sounds like) ... it'll get rid of the extra water weight...and in 7 days you can shed alot of water weight... fat, prolly a couple pounds.

Google it.

I couldn't find the 7 days to leanness, does anyone have a direct link to it? Also how low would you recommend cutting my carbs? I generally get between 200-250 grams of carbs/day, any less and I am dumb as a doorknob. I can handle cutting them, but how low would you suggest? Also can anyone recommend a good diuretic that I could get from GNC in Canada? Any other tricks people? Thanks. Rachel

Wow -- 200 - 250 g carb?? A high day is 150 for me...

I"d do a 3 day carb rotation -- go 2 days low carb -- like 30-50 g -- 1 carb meal / day -- that's like 1/2 c of oatmeal or 4 oz sweet potato. Then the 3rd day carb up -- go to 150 g, repeat. You should dump some water on the low days, you may look a little flat by day 3 and maybe feel a little tired, but that 3rd day the carb up you will have a pile of energy and look more filled out (muscle wise) - or just less flat.

Can you get ahold of MHP Expel (a 5 day diuretic program ) or Taraxatone (10 day)? Otherwise if you can get some dandelion root - its just an herb you can get at most health food stores. Natural diuretic.

Do lots of cardio -- you might throw in a couple HIIT sessions -- interval sessions - e.g. -- 5 min warm up + 8 x 30 sec sprint + 60 sec recovery (e.g. jog to get your breath back) + 5 min cool down.

I would probably not do a pile of cardio the last day before your event -- it tends to make me look more watery / less defined.

Thanks Sassy and Slaughter, that is helpful. I can get Expel or Taraxatone, which would you suggest? The carb cycling sounds good, I will start tomorrow. Also should I be drinking as much water as normal to ensure that the diuretics are working?

Yes I know I eat tons of carbs usually, but my body is tending to process them well. I used to eat super low, however I have been upping them gradually and I find the more carbs I eat the better I feel and the faster my metabolism and fat loss. I am positive though that I have reached a peak with this tactic and need to now begin lowering my carbs gradually. Thanks again guys for all of the helpful info.

One more thing, I have been eating 100% bran cereal like it's candy and it seems to be working, it fills me up, has virtually no absorbable calories and shuttles the rest of my food through me even faster (gross I know). Is this bad to be doing?

If it works for you. God knows I've tried the gamut of "digestion enhancers"... :worried:

Use Expel -- Tarax is a 10 day treatment - Expel is 5 day. I also include GNC Watertrix pills.

Here's the thing tho -- if you are increasing your carbs the whole water depletion thing and the whole approach like I use for competition isn't really going to apply. The point of all that is to get get as much water out as possible and we're talking down to the water in your skin - tha's how BB's get that wild veiny look and you can see the ripples in the striations in their quads & glutes. Also the carb deplete and then refeed helps to dump the water but then the refeed helps to refill out your muslces while sucking up more of the subQ water.

I guess continue what you are doing -- its not like anything you do in the next 5 days is goign to make you lose bodyfat so water is your primary goal here.

If it were me I'd be following what I know to do for competition prep --

From Sunday - Wed drop all complex carbs or at least drop them down to less than 30 g by Tues and only veggie carbs on Wed. Increase your fats to help handle the cutting of carbs because you will start to feel punchy & lethargic after 3+ days on low carb. Then on Thurs start to increase your complex carbs again -- say 200 g carbs - sweet potatos, white potatos, whatever. But keep it clean.

From Sun - Tues drink regular amounts of water (1.5-ish gals/day) then start to cut that amount on 1/2 each day - Wed, Thurs, Fri - then only sip after 6 pm Friday. Run the Expel from Monday - Friday as it says on the bottle. It is potassium sparing, and also I use GNC Watertrix water pills - they also have potassium & magnesium in them - this helps to minimize any crampign from the water dump.

But the above is with the caveat that I've spent the prior 12+ weeks preparing my body for this week. My bodyfat is very low by this time and my point is to get as much water out as possible and also to get my muscles as full as possible.

If what you are doing works, then run with it. I don't know what specifically you are looking to accomplish for this event -- but i'd probably cut the carbs int he early part of the week, start droppign your water to help dump water weight, but you'll look flat for a few days, then start a carb up - doesn't have to be crazy amounts but to get rid of the flat look, keep the water dropping and then do your thing. I'd also cut the cardio, etc at least the day before - it tends to make me look squishy as if the liquids haven't settled yet.
