Ladies, what is a typical day for you?

I know there may not be a 'typical day,' but some idea would be great.

I'll go first. I'm a graduate student. I live alone and this summer I don't have a job because I'm trying to finish up my diss. I have deadlines to meet (like finishing the diss by mid August!), but my schedule is quite open.

A training weekday
7 or 8 - wake up
8-10 or 11 - work (on dissertation, other scholastic stuff)
10-12 or 11-1 - gym
until 5 - more work and/or cleaning house, running errands
5-7 - television ('The Simpsons' comes on at 5, that's my cue!)
7-? more work (with the TV on if its a night when TNT is showing Law and Order for hours on end! :D)
? - bed

As I read about folks' training scheds, I'm always curious about how they fit it into the rest of their lives. I know that some of you are very busy, so I'm also hoping that this thread could be useful for people who say they "don't have time" to workout.

I'm a software consultant, so my day is rarely the same. For example, tomorrow I work from home and Tuesday I'm way the hell out in west PA for a 9:00 am meeting which means I'll be rising around 4:00 am. Fun!

If I were at a customer on a long term project - which my manager has promised me so I won't quit - here's what my day would look like.

5:00 am rise
5:30 am lift (that's when the gym opens)
8:00 am head to work
6:00 pm head home
7:00 - 10:00 prepare dinner and meals for next day, answer emails, stretch, chill
10:00 bed (better yet, bed at 9:00, but that's not always do-able)

It's called livin' for the weekends. :-)

5:30 - rise/shower
6:30 - commute to work (at my desk around 7:40)
4:00 - leave the office/commute home (arrive home by 5:30 after picking up my son)
5:30 - 6:30 - go over homework, change, make a snack for me, dinner for son
6:45 - hit the gym
8:00 - return home - try to have some family time, do laundry, chores, check email etc.
10:30 - hit the hay (that is really what time I would like to get to bed but often it is not until 11 or so)

This is very regimented due to trying to be a mom, an individual and keep the house running smoothly.

Most real errands and cleaning are saved up for the weekend, however my husband has a very flexible and ever changing schedule and tends to take on half of my normal responsibilities.

Hm, every day is different. Here's tomorrow:

7:30 Wake up with 3 year old jumping on me (he will, of course, claim to be starving). Make breakfast & check Elite/Email

8:00 Sprints - Play kickball or T-ball with son between sprints

8:30 Eat, shower, and check Elite while son plays his phonics game on his computer

9:30-10:00 Eat

10-12 Home school, clean, run errands, work on the yard, post/computer time, yadda-yadda-yadda

12 Eat

12-2 Clean, run errands, work on the yard, post/computer time, yadda-yadda-yadda (Go to the beach if it's not raining)

4 Eat pre-workout meal, play, run errands, work on the yard, post/computer time, yadda-yadda-yadda

6-8 Everyone comes over to train

8 Post workout meal, and go for a walk with son and hubby (if he's home), pulling my son sled-style in his wagon.

8:30 or 9 Give son a bath, read him a book, put him to bed, clean the house, do the dishes, lay out food for Tuesday, spend some QT with the hubby, or computer time if he's working late.

10 Bed (hahahha, yeah right...I'll sleep in).

*DISCLAIMER - Computer time does not just mean Elite, but working on my site, on our main site, on business deals, chatting with friends and training partners, research topics of interest (nutrition, training, etc), checking out the online journals I'm subscribed to, interview lifters/athletes, and many other productive things. Since I subscribe to most mags, journals, books, etc in online format, it's my "continuing education" time too.

...and since I have ants in my pants, I sit here for 5-10mins, then run and do something, then come back for a few, then run and do something. I've been told that it seems like I sit here and post on Elite 24/7. Yeah, right. I just type fast, and move around a lot.

I'm at university, and have a lot of catching up to do since I've been out of school so long, so ...

5:30 get up, shower, breakfast
6:50 leave for school
7:30 arrive at school, study till classes start at 8
17:30- 18:00 get home, check e-mail, eat, etc
19:00 - 21:00 train (incl. commuting time)
21:00 ~ eat, prepare next day's meals, study, study, study, chores
12:00 ~12:30 go to bed

Hey Brickgirl sounds like your son is as active and sporty as you, that's cool, so many of the EF folks also have fit and healthy kids.

My day is:
7am alarm goes off, make coffee, come back to bed.
8am get up, get meals from fridge, get kit ready in bag, go to work. Go to post office on the way with ebay stuff, usually.
9am work.
5-6pm leave work (yes our offices are in the middle of nowhere).

6pm go to gym, work out. If I have karate, I'll spend an hour cleaning in the morning and doing stuff, then go to work later, stay at work until 7pm, go to karate at 7.30pm.

After working out, go home, make meals, have dinner. Spend time with hubbie. Go to bed around 11pm.

I'm trying to fit the gym stuff in in the morning now though as I feel SO MUCH BETTER in the morning at work after working out.

A training weekday (M, T, Th, Fr):

4:45 - get up
5:00 - pee dog, feed dog
5:15 - gym: weights for 45 min, cardio 30 min, stretch 15 min
7:00 - back home, walk dog, shower and groom myself, take nap if time
8:15 - pack food
8:25 - drive to work (computer programmer)
8:30 - at work, heat breakfast, read email, eat breakfast
8:45 - 10:15 work
10:15 - snack

3:30 - snack
3:45 - 5:00 work
5:15 - home, pee dog, feed dog, change clothes
5:30 - 6:00 misc chores
6-7 - dinner, walk dog
7-9 - snack, TV, read
9:30 - bed

On the Wednesdays and weekends, I sleep till about 7. I enjoy taking long naps on weekends. Even though weekends are rest days, I may do some yard work, go hiking, etc.

OK, here's mine:

7AM wake up, eat, get ready for work
7:45 leave for work
8:30 get to work (AM commute sucks)
10:30 2nd breakfast
12-2 train (flex time makes commute worthwhile)
2PM eat
4:30 or 5 eat more
6:30 leave work
7:05 get home (much less traffic at 6:30 PM)
7:30 eat dinner
8 hang out w/ BF, walk dogs, read or watch TV
10:30-11:00 go to bed

Sex is mostly a weekend thing :( . Cleaning happens much less than it should, too. Yardwork gets done even less!

5:30 - hit snooze on my alarm until 6:30
6:30 - drag my ass out of bed and eat breakfast
7:35 - leave for work...already 5 minutes late!
8:05 - arrive at the office
10:00 - snack time!
1/1:30 - lunch time!
4/4:30 - snack time again!
5:30 - leave the office...heading for the gym
6:00 - arrive at the gym and get changed
6:30 - lift
7:30 - kickboxing or some other form of cardio
9:00 - time to go home...or to my man's place =)
10 (or later) - shower, eat dinner, make meals for the next day.
12/1ish - watch UFC or Matrix...then finally fall asleep.

I believe she mentioned both dressing her husband and putting him to bed. You're never fully dressed without a smile, you know. :D

Spatts - oh, I get it now...I'm a little slow...I was looking for the word "sex". Guess it's time for a T-rex.

I was 208 last night when I took that pic. I've put on 20-30 pounds of mostly water in the last 3-4 weeks.

Between monthly bloat and supplementation, it can be done. I imagine I'll drop about 10 of it pretty soon. ;)

I hear you, Spatts! Damn water retention! I've got a bad case of it too - more from monthly hormones than anything. Of course, those pretzels I ate yesterday didn't help yesterday either. Damn salt cravings! And chocolate cravings! Luckily I've avoided caving in to those, but I just HAD to have salt yesterday.

I made it a point to drink 3 gallons of water yesterday, and had some dandelion tea too. This morning I'm down to 198. I swear I'm part camel. A 10 pound flux in one day, and I'm STILL holding water.

Ceebs...that MUST be what it is. ;)

Holy Crow!

What accounts for why some women gain water weight so easily? I heavily salt everything I eat and dont drink nearly enough water but my range never exceeds 138- 145. I know its more than BC pills causing that kind of retention.

As for my schedule, I'm not a mother and I'm not married so my activity level PALES in comparison. (note to self: stop whining about being too busy)

SPATTS??>> HOW TALL?....

my schedule on a Wednesday>>>
6:30 or 7 am...wake up eat shower get myself and my 5 yr old ready to leave the house
8:40 am.....leave to take son to school and myself to work
9:00 am.....work meet with boss check emails read elite posts
12:00...go to gym for my lunch "hour"
12:30 to 2 pm....lift and cardio
3:30 pm....back to office (have to make an afternoon appearance)
5:00 pm...go directly to my 2nd job at a sports bar and waitress till 11 pm
11pm.....go home drag my son upstairs from the couch and try to het to bed by 11:30 pm

BTW, does anyone notice that the general public (like those people who frequent the sports bars) are really clueless when it comes to fitness and bodybuilding and training????!!!! EVERY SHIFT I WORK at least 5 PEOPLE ask me if i "lift weights" "am a bodybuilder" and "could i kick some ass with those arms". ONw let me say that i am no where near lean enough or muscley enough for bodybuilding but i guess to any tom dick or harry in a bar, any girl with defined triceps, must be a bodybuilder??!!
