Just how EASY is it to build muscle?

It's funny. 9 out of 10 women who quit weight training would probably say they're genetically gifted for muscle development, yet it seems only 1 out of 100 women who continue training might think they're genetically gifted. :FRlol:

I think women have been brainwashed with so many images of the female body with NO muscle, that they think ANY muscle on their body looks "big & bulky".

Unfortunately many women incorrectly assume they're genetically gifted, thinking the gains will continue at the same rate if they continue training, so they back off and tell other women their tale of horror/genetic prowess.

:eek2: what AWESOME insight! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! This is what I was seeking with this post... more explanation of why these women delude themselves that they actually DID get huge/bulky & also some response to it! :) I feel so much better!

MsBeverlyHills-
Good point, except that this aerobics instructor board has different boards (aqua, cycling) and a personal training board. I expect the trainers to be a *little* more educated. :( I know, I know, don't be too optimistic!

she looks ok even wthout needing to go to the gym.......so therefore she doesn't want it as bad as others who need alot of work to get in shape.

Ding, ding, ding! I think you hit the nail on the head on that one! :smash: She's one of "those" girls that you just love to hate...not really, but you are envious of their genetics/metabolism!

As for me, I have to work really hard to see results.

They probably just notice that their weight goes up and this, of course, is a very bad thing for most ordinary women.

Oftentimes I ask myself- what in the hell is wrong with getting more muscle in the first place? Why are you so afraid that you are going to have biceps?

Grrrr. Just grrrr.

Some people don't like the way a muscular woman looks. Plain and simple. I keep an Oxygen magazine here at work, and most of the guys wet themselves over the cover model, but when they look inside and see more fitness/bb'ing type physiques, they are usually turned off by it. I guess guys don't like to look so wimpy next to those chicks...

I guess it's just a matter of preference...I could never be with a weak, skinny guy. My dad is a big boy who has been training (and still does) since he was in middle school.

That's why I love my bignate...I know he's strong enough to sling me over his shoulder and save my ass if needed!:bigkiss:

LOL! Yes, rather! I love the looks I get when I announce, proudly, both my weight and the 13 kilos I've put on in the past couple of years or so. Tee hee.

The good thing, though, about this approach, is that it sort of breaks the ice in a crowd of people who can hardly bear to even whisper the scale numbers to themselves in an empty room. Because, darn it, if I'm not the heaviest, densest chick in the room, I soon will be! They're all lightweights in comparison, so they feel free to name any numbers they like after that :)

As for how easy it is to build muscle - I just laugh scathingly at this type of comment and give a detailed view of my rather fanatical diet and training logs ... this shuts people up quite quickly.

I read quietly this thread....but echo your rant and sentiment.

The best part is - when I was only 127 lbs at 5'7 and was a cardio queen who ate only 2 meals a day -- mostly just a bagel or yogurt and some thing else later.....I was told I was too thin but I felt like a fat-thin person.

Fast forward to 3 or so years later...now at 5'7 and 145.0 pounds, I am told...boy -- you have put on weight BUT my bodyfat level is about 5-8% less! I was actually told I was chubby (hello I a wear a size 4!).

People are strange when it comes to the fitness myths. Further, and I hate to generalize...there are alot of jealous and catty and un-self aware women out there. Competitiveness in a negative way seems to be rampant. While it is great to be self-competitive..there are always those who have to be pushing others words and views down in order to feel better about themselves and justify their own lack of detemination and drive.

Just my 2 cents......with love I sign off: from chubby

I totally agree and have a similiar history with a different timeline.

We have very similiar stats from what you have posted.

In fact a member on this very board asked me if I was fat (coz you know all the really hot chicks in Playboy are only 110-120lbs) - so I told him - yah - I'm a really heffer.

Remember now - we all wanna get big and buff like Jenifer Anison!

OUUUUUU YA!
