It's true - working harder isn't necessarily better.

Cornholio - haH ha haaa ha ha ha ha ha waa haH! Yes. You did. And yes, I was mule-headed. But I have also gained much more than I would have had I just listened and followed without trying. But I'm very glad you popped in to say that anyway :)

LOL

I keep up with y'all......

You know my opinion, Steel. I work out MAYBE 45 mins a day, 4 days a week...no cardio, no drops, no "failure" the way you mean it, etc... and I've added about 150 to my squat, 235 to my bench, and 430 to my deadlift since this time last year. Not to mention 20+ pounds of muscle. Sometimes I'm amazed at the results I get out of doing so little. Seems too good to be true.

When I see posts about people leg pressing till they puke, I have to wonder if they did that just so they could talk about it. I can't see any other reason for it.

Good. Don't be a stranger. You help a great deal, even if it sometimes looks like it doesn't show. :)

Yah, spatts - I'm working on the next step, getting my head into WSB. Got 4 more weeks of this little diet cycle, then gonna start bulking again and give it my heart and soul for a while - see how I go.

:)

Hey Steels and Spatts...yeah, long time since I've posted here...mostly been lurking.

I'm especially interested in the intensity thing because my progress has slowed lately even though I've added more and harder sets to my workouts. Maybe I need to rethink what I'm doing. I am curious about the PL vs BB thing though. I'm not really lifting for totals or weights, just want to improve my shape and gain overall size. Spatts, if you were training BB (my understanding is that you're more about the PL lately) would you train differently?

Yep we all seem to be of one mind here-After taking nine days off I'm ready to hit it again. Honestly what has put size on me is taking time off every 10-12 weeks and lifting only 3 days per week focusing on legs and back. Smaller muscle groups hit after legs or back. Split legs into squat day and deadlift day. Threw in goodmornings, stifflegged deadlifts and pullthrus. My goal is to be able to handle my own bodywt so also do chins.

I made up a modified 5x5 wo schuedule that works for me. I can feel and see the difference. It was VERY hard for me to back own to lifting only 3 times per week, but Shit oh dear-it was worth it!!!!!!

Stay out of the gym and GROW-valerie

Work smarter, not harder ;)
couldnt agree more. I also think its also about eating smarter...
since being on a CKD, my bf% has dropped and Im finally getting the body type Ive been aiming for. It meant having to put my pride aside and drop the weights a little, reduce the cardio - but hey whos complaining about that?!
