BTW -- how do you squat?? Smith machine, free weight, etc..... I'm jealous!! LOL
no machine or anything just the bar and weights and my honey standing beside me, watching my form. i really enjoy when he is there he tells me when my knees come forward too far or my head goes down, and my arms arent forward enough. At first it was kind of hard because the bar was really uncomfortable on my shoulders but once i positioned myself better it wasnt that bad. today im not very sore just a lil stiff if i sit too long. :p i used to be soooo sore for like 3 to 4 days but now its down to 2 days so i must be getting used to it.

Wow that's great!! Wish our gym had a squat rack :( I have to use the Smith machine as there is no where to re-rack the bar if I tried to squat it. My gym is really small.....

thats got to suck ^^^^

our gym isnt really that big but there are 2 squat racks so when we go there isnt very many people and so we each get one. So where do u live jenscat?

I'm in Wilmington, DE. We don't have a lot of gyms around here, especially where I live. Near my house are 2 that aren't private personal one on one training studios. The Y and the one I go to.....the one I go to is small but never crowded so I can always get a machine.....so some of the trade offs are worth it plus I can walk there.....The Y is crazy....they don't limit memberships & they also house homeless men, etc who you have to wade thru to get in & they always are renovating but never the fitness area. Too crowded to to use equipment & always a line for CV machines....

Now if I wanted to drive an hour I could go to another gym, but naaaah! My head would explode!! LOL

Oh and no one at my gym really lifts "big." They use weights but the women use very light weight if at all & the men go for the show muscles. I'd like to see my gym expand as there is equipment I'd like to use. A squat rack is one of them....

Where are you?? Do you guys go to a gym or use a home gym?

You asked about the shoes... how high? Are we talking 7"? LOL Yes, after wearing those for a few years it most definitely affected my joints, hips, lowerback and neck.

If any of you are selfconscious about being oggled then wear more loosefitting clothing. I know how good it feels to strut your stuff, but seriously, if you feel odd about peeps staring, then wear something less revealing. As your confidence in your form, etc builds then you can unveil yourself! hehhehehehee

For a change every now and then throw in some front squats. I use these exclusively as I find my form is much better. I can't go heavy anymore but my upper body strength is good so these do me just fine. Besides, it scares the shit out of the little gym boys to see a girl frontsquatting! :D

yes thats the size in inches actually i wear the 8 1/2 inches since there isnt so deep a angle so it helps with all the pain later
a little!

i used to work so much more a few years ago and now that i dont work nearly as much it seems i hurt more!!

sucks- but maybe my going to the gym and all might help out overall my income will go up since i am getting more in shape there arent to many girls here who have anything smaller than a pregnant looking tummy so i am pretty fortunate that i have some definition in mine and no kids yet. :verygood:
not that i dont want a child someday but not for a while.

Yup. I always wore 7" boots... would really help support my ankles and the platform was very deceptive. The rise was really only max 4". Made it easier to work. A lot of people don't realize how physically demanding such work is.

I used to do situps on the pole (one place I worked had 3 stages - two glass with one marble beneath - a long pole that would spin. I used climb the one in the center - about 20 feet above, grab the pole with my legs, then throw myself upside down and do situps with my arms extended, of course, the pole would spin as well. If I slipped the only thing catching me at the bottom was a solid marble stage, wearing nothing but a thong and maybe a tiny top depending on where in my show I was.), pushups and pullups on stage. If my friends were in the house or if the tip was high enough I would do one armed pushups... the most I ever did was 10. All this at the age of 30something... after having had several children.

Everyone who thinks that such work is easy, in addition to the stigma attached and putting up with drunk assholes that think we are less than human - think of working from 10PM till 6AM at least 5 nights p/week. Sometimes money was pretty good, not nearly what it was back in the day, I'm told or if you weren't dirty. But there were many nights when we were all paying to get naked.

Was an interesting time in my life indeed... sometimes I miss performing. I had the most beautiful costumes. But the hustle... that shit is something that I will NEVER miss. Made my flesh crawl, robbed me of my humanity just a little more each day. Been nearly a year since I quit and still I am not totally over that....
