I'm sick of being broke

Well...I'm skating by. Behind on my energy bill on a regular basis, always cook at home, we eat a lot of rice cause it's cheap. I can make ramin noodles like 10 different ways. Frozen veggies cause they keep. I have no cable or Internet (I post at work on my cell using thier wifi) or home phone. Cell phone plans are kept to the bare minimum. Only run the washer completely full, I try not to use the dryer if I can help it. Every time I drive it's a planned trip to conserve gas. I own my car. Some of my school loans I use to catch up on utilities. My rent is low. There is absolutely no money for anything but bills and food. Oh and I have no credit card debt.

The problem is one trip to the doctor, the car breaking down, any unexpected expense puts me in danger of beig homeless.

Welcome to America post 2008

A slow lawyer is better than no lawyer. The hardest part is the intake process, as legal aid is in high demand. Getting started can be daunting, but once your case has been accepted you shouldn't have too much of a time commitment. Usually it is a phone intake, an in person meeting, getting all the documents to your attorney and maybe a few more phone calls before court. At least you have a month - it isn't uncommon for legal aid attorneys to get calls from a prospective client that has court in a day or two (and even those cases are sometimes accepted). If you haven't been through the intake process, you should at least try.

Wow.. welcome back. And here is the lawyer you were looking for.

I did the intake and all that jazz. They said they would help, I'm the poster child for cases like this...blah...blah...blah. But I have a friend who is a paralegal and she showed me how to do the papers so I did that part without them. I got tired of waiting.

The court process is actually quite painless. I've gone thru it 3 times. Once for myself, when I got custody of niece and nephew, then again when my bros ex wife took him to court, I'm not a lawyer, but was allowed to represent him. Just make sure you have documentation for every thing you bring up. And any chance you have to discredit anything he says, do it.
And definitely take that douchebag to court for support. The money isn't for you, but thats how douchebags think.
First establish some sort of set physical custody order. If he ends up with primary physical custody of them, you could very well be made to pay him support. I wish you all the luck in the world.

good for you and I'm glad to hear it.. some advice in regards to school for you.. is take infomatics classes if they are offered..

even with the RN degree and some experience you can transfer into that verticle and double what any nurse can make.. if you consider $85 per hour a good income..

but that's just my 1st hand experience..

Like classes on algorithms?

Informatics is a very broad field. What area do you suggest?

There are too many posts for me to answer individually. Here's the deal..

He is aggressive and can be abusive. It was mostly verbal but he did push me around a lot, strangled me a few times. I was with him since I was 16, the physical abuse didn't start until I had my second child. I stayed until he went after my oldest son, who was 12 at the time. He did not hit him, I got a baseball bat and pushed him out of the room. That's when I decided we were getting out.

It's been about a year and a half. I will not have that man raise my boys. He hasn't gotten aggressive with them at all since that one day. But he did attack his next door neighbors because they were "staring at him". He threatened th with a gun and the cops showed up with their guns drawn and put my now 14y/o on the ground cause he was standing outside. He fights, he lives with his parents and thinks he's entitled to being taken care of, he holds no value in education, he has a very poor work ethic, and he hangs out with known criminals. His brother, who also lives in the house is constantly in trouble with the cops. My boys come back home and dressing like thugs from his place. He raises them with an arrogance that will only hurt them as adults.

He agreed to pay me $600 a month but I haven't seen a dime. I'm going for full custody, I don't have a lawyer because I don't have the money. His response was to ask for full custody also. The custody hearing is in 3 weeks.

Uh I can't remember what else you guys asked. I hope that's everything.

an abusive shit head that puts his kids in harms way is a different ball game
have him fucking killed so your kids can collect social security

the current action in most states now is to revoke a person's drivers license for non payment of child support, and seizure of payroll monies via an employer, unless they are on a payment plan with the state.. but unless you have it court ordered there is little you can do about it other than go after it now, which you should do..

but we don't want to see you on the jerry springer show.. "who the daddy" dna testing..
