I'm loving the DEADS workout, do I need a belt or straps?

I feel pretty confident doing the deads so far. I started by finding my max about a month ago which was 405. Then I started actually doing them as a regular part of my weekly split only two weeks ago. I started with 315 for 5x5. It feels really good to do them and in my gym it's rare and scares people. Anyway I was wondering if I should wear a belt or wrist straps. I did 325 for 5x5 last week and by the end I could feel that my grip was getting tired.

Getting tired and not holding are two different things. Your grip should strengthen from this...:)

by the way...GOOD JOB on the workout!!!!

B, I'm doing my deads right before I start my 5x5 of bi's and tri's which I superset. I couldn't think of a better or different place to add them into my split, will they be okay there?

good job i wish my grip was that strong...

belt is okay. but wrist straps are to be avoided at all costs. sure they might have a place somewhere. but the less you depend on them the stronger your grip will be. better to kill two birds with one stone.....

Not what I would do... I do deads either as a max effort first on lower day or as a secondary exercise on dynamic effort lower day. When I did a standard routine I did them on back day...last.

I don't use a belt on deads. I don't see any need for it and it doesnt work for me as it just slides of when I bend over.

I do them as the 5 x 5 part of back day

i don't use a belt for deads at all, I use straps when I am maxing out.....only because my grip isn't strong enough to handle the weight right now....any other time, no equipment neccessary.

Right now I'm doing weighted wide grip pull-ups for my 5x5 back exercise, so I don't want to switch that for deads. Is it really bad for me to do the deads on my arm day? I mean I'm still getting them in the weekly routine right?
