It does make sense... And I'm by no means the expert, but for thr reasons you explained above, I don't think that the new, higher cal diet will hinder your progress -- those extra calories are going right into your (better) workouts!

It does make sense... And I'm by no means the expert, but for the reasons you explained above, I don't think that the new, higher cal diet will hinder your progress -- those extra calories are going right into your (better) workouts!

Yeahhhhh I love it too.... I can't believe just within the past 3 weeks how many food gatherings I have had to go to and sit watching everyone eat. It seems like they jumped since I started dieting. I'm talking once or twice a day going out and watching people eat, or being offered cake and icecream. It seems we keep having promotion ceremonies, and birthday parties...
Oh well. I haven't given in at all.

IP, do you eat regular old-fashioned oats, or the steel-cut variety?

The BF just bought steel-cut for the first time (because... that's what Jay Cutler eats... dork, I know). Anyway, I've never been exposed to them before. They look different, cook different, taste & smell different.
 
Well, all, change is inevidible, and now is the time!! Nelmjer and I are feeling a little sluggish in our training. I know a lot has to do with the training and ever-increasing weights, which we BOTH have truly enjoyed. Unfortunately, it is also related to crazy 84 hour work weeks. I have been sooooooo busy, and my posting (lack of) shows it. :qt:

I have decided to switch to some higher rep sets for about 1 month. I will be still be increasing weights each week, hopefully hitting failure in week 4. Hopefully, this will add some change and quickness to our training!! ;)

Well...I have had my ups as well as my downs on this carb cycling...I THINK I like it and I think I see results, though I have had A LOT of trouble trying to get my low carb days balanced to fit ME. I guess we learn as we go, and if we need to we change things up a bit we do. :) Lets just say, that I still have a lot of learning to go, but I will get it down, eventually!! heeehee

If I may ask, you did carb cycling right? IF so, what cycle worked best for you did you feel? Or are you still experimenting? :verygood:

Honestly, I have NO CLUE which ones I eat. I wish I had a choice, but I don't. I eat what they give me at the cafeteria :worried: (which is most likely NOT the oatmeal of choice!!) heehee

Though I know that steel cut are the healthiest oats you can buy!! So way to go BF!!! :p :p :p EAT SOME FOR ME PLEASE!!!! :heart:

Hi IP!!! I just wanted to drop in and say hi to my biggest supporter on here. I hope everything goes well with this new workout. I am scared to try and carb cycle because I never know what I can get at the darn chow hall and knowing my luck there would be no veggies on low carb days and only fast food junk. Do you guys have one line for the main meal and one that is always fast food? We do and I get so disgusted when I see some of the guys go to the fast food line every single day and clog their arteries with all that nastiness. I promise to keep up on your journal more.
 
One question for you. Since you take sesapure, how do you like it? I am thinking about trying it but would really like to know what some people think of it before I do. I want it mostly for those days when I cheat horribly or is it more of an everyday thing?

I actually like it a lot!! I had some trouble with it at first. I was taking too much of it in a 24 hour period (for my bodies needs), and it was disposing of TOO many of my calories, thus giving me EXTREME migraines. Now that I have it under control though, I really enjoying it. I will notice it working the most after a cheat meal...I never really feel bloated or retain too much water the next day!! So, overall I am very happy with it!! Hopefully that makes sense and helps...

Hey JL!! Thanks for dropping in. It can be VERY tough out here to do any type of diet...you sometimes have to compromise and be flexible, but I do the best I can. :qt: Yes, we have a main-line, a fast food line and a salad bar...BUT, they just opened a "health room", which has got to be one of the best things that they have done out here as far as food goes!! It is fairly discusting to see what some of these guys eat, day in and day out - I can completely agree with you on that!! Makes me want to :sick:

I will usually try and take it about 20-30 min before my meal! ;)

I take it everyday, but I would just wait and see how your body responds and how sensitive you are to it. When I first started taking it, I couldn't take it unless I was eating HIGH CARBS!! Now, I generally do not have a problem taking it everyday! So, just play it by ear...

No need to apologize for the questions - questions are GREAT!! It makes us ALL learn!! :dance2:

I agree about the sesapure - I always take the glucorell with it too - awesome combination. I'll definitely be bringing some with me.

I enjoyed the HIGH carbs THOROUGHLY!! I STILL go through periods of being completely hungry and zapped of energy, but they at least happen less often now. It usually doesn't kick in until the second day of low carbs and then I am ZAPPED of ALL energy... :worried: Like don't want to function!! Not quit sure what to do about that yet!! :verygood:

Now, THAT is not normal! You definitely need to eat more on those days. Brain fog is to be expected, but not wanting to function is not good at all...

Your fats should be higher on the low days. Not a lot higher, but a bit higher. How many grams of fish oil are you taking? You could increase that a bit if it is under 10g. Replacing 2 egg whites with one whole egg in your first meal would also be good for increasing fats. Plus, it makes your hair and skin sooo purty. :qt:
 
Well...fish oil is already at about 14g...I may try replacing two egg whites with one whole egg in the morning, and see if that helps out!! Thanks so much fly!! I could also use some improvements on my skin and hair out here - they get so freaking DRY!! :kiss:

14g of fish oil is too much. I'd definitely decrease that and add in some good fats from another source. Maybe olive oil. 10g is the suggested limit for fish oil consumption.

You could always eat more almonds, natural PB, olie oil...yuuummmm.

Wait...you're from Texas? Where?

Hummmm - I actually ran out of NPB a couple of weeks ago (probably a good thing - that stuff is soooo YUMMY!!) I don't have any access to olive oil, but I do have a few almonds left which I have been eating the past few weeks. I may have to try eating one whole egg in the morning, to make up for the fat difference of the decrease in fish oil...if any of that made sense at all!!

I'm curious...where did you hear about the suggested limit on fish oil?

My favorite breakfast is whole rye bread toasted with a bit of avocado all mashed up. A whole egg and some egg whites scrambled, and fat free cheddar inside. Sooooooo good. The hot eggs warm up the avocado...oh my. :p

New workouts are going...they may take some time getting used to, however. When you have been working strength for the past 7 months, it is hard to switch gears and start working for speed and working the nervous system a little more. The workouts aren't quit as intense so I am trying to get used to that aspect!! Other then that, they are going well.

I carb up again on FRIDAY - WHOOOAA TGIF!!!

We can always e-mail on the outside so we can keep in touch. Ohhh the way I worked around my works firewall.... If you have an outside e-mail account have someone on elite send you a private message. Have your profile settings set up to receive a notice when you receive a EF e-mail. So I have the one private message in my yahoo account and every day I click on that and click on the link to open the private message... That is the only way I found around the firewall here at work. I can't log straight on to EF without going through that message. Let m eknow I can send you one but don't erase it... Keep a copy of it if you have too..
See if that works!
