I think my lower back might have finally told me no more, I might need to see a doc..

bfold-regarding speed DL's, how many sets/reps do you do? Today I did 3 working sets x 15 reps...just curious.
 
i feel your pain.

I have stopped squatting for that reason. Even with 135 on the bar, my back goes.......i just can't take the pain and frustration anymore. Funnily enough, deadlifts are fine.....they don't give me a problem.

But i have stopped squatting......i'd like to lift for as long as i can, so as much as it pains me, i have reluctantly thrown the squats on the scrap heap......it's just not worth it anymore.
 
most likly the cause of your pain is ...you are overtraining your back...deads and squat once a week is too much stress on the low back...go ahead and squat once a week. but you should dead only once every 2 weeks....check out the routines of world class powerlifters...most deadlift only once every 10-14 days.
I used to have low back pain( mild but for like 10 years) I started deadlifting 2 years ago ...2-3 times a month ...you can see my back in my avatar.....the frequancy is enough.
I am doing DC training right now ..so deads follow once every 9 days or so ...sometimes I cycle something else in ..but I did them tonight.
 
whats so bad about doing deads once a week as long as you have 6 days to recover ?

is it hard on your spine and vertebrae or something ?
 
Despite how much I loved deads, I would force myself to do them every other back day. After I did this my pulls increased consistently.

my split looks like this

M- chest
T - quads
W- off
T- upperback
F- shoulders
S- lowerback (DEADS)
S- off

doing deads once every two weeks would realy fuck that up

thaibox - did you stop doing deads weekly because you read they were bad to do weekly or because something happened and you decided that would be the best thing to do?

basically on Saturday i just do a few sets of deads, a few sets of stiff legs, and some hyperextensions
